Chapter 111
After Teresa saw Yolanda enter Joyacre Villa, she grabbed her backpack straps and jogged toward the main hall. As she ran, Yolanda called out with a cheerful voice, “Miss Naomi, I’m home!”
The sound of Yolanda’s joy made Teresa’s heart tighten. She waited until Yolanda had gone into the hall before finally stepping up to the doorway herself. From there, Teresa could see everything happening inside.
Yolanda handed her backpack to Sharon before running to Naomi, who had just come out of the kitchen. She hugged Naomi’s leg and looked up, asking with a bright smile, “Miss Naomi, where’s Ava?”
Ava Yates was Naomi’s mother, and she had just been brought to Joyacre Villa.
Yolanda had come back to the villa specifically for this reason. She didn’t want to stay at Logan Manor. It wasn’t that she disliked Richard, but she disliked Teresa even more.
Naomi crouched down in front of Yolanda, ruffled her hair, and said gently, “She’s in the kitchen.”
Yolanda perked up, about to head for the kitchen, when Ava appeared.
Yolanda, you’re back. Come here, sweetie,” Ava said, crouching down and opening her arms. Her face beamed with a warm, loving
smile.
Yolanda immediately ran over and hugged Ava tightly, kissing Ava all over her cheek.
“Ava, you finally made it to Riverdale. I’ve missed you so much since you left last weekend. I’ve been dreaming about your food,” Yolanda
said, her voice bubbling with excitement.
The Yates family ran a business, but Ava was just a housewife
yard who hadn’t seen much of the world. Her clothes were simple and modest.
But Yolanda didn’t mind any of that. In fact, she felt closer to Ava than to Teresa.

Just then, Charles came down from upstairs. When he saw Yolanda clinging to Ava and showering her with kisses, his face turned cold. “Yolanda, come here,” he called out in a commanding tone.
Yolanda pouted and reluctantly dragged herself over to him.
Naomi, seeing Charles’s displeased expression, assured he didn’t like Ava being so close to Yolanda. But Charles quickly put thought to rest.

Once Yolanda came over, Charles bent down and gave her a gentle lecture. “Ava just had surgery and she’s still getting better. You need to be careful around her, okay? Don’t accidentally hurt Ava, got it?”
Yolanda nodded hard. “Got it, Dad.”
Seeing this, Naomi let out a sigh of relief.
After speaking to Yolanda, Charles poured a glass of water and walked over to Ava. “Here, have some water. Just focus on getting better. while you’re here at Joyacre Villa. Don’t worry about cooking–we’ve got Sharon to help. If you want anything, just tell her.”
Ava took the glass, looking genuinely grateful. “Thank you so much, Charles.”
Charles smiled. “It’s nothing, Ava. You don’t have to thank me.”
Yolanda clung to Charles’s arm and smiled up at Ava. “Ava, just relax and enjoy your stay. After school every day, we can go for walks together, okay?”
Ava’s eyes grew misty with emotion. “You’re such a good girl.”
Just then, Naomi came over and gently supported Ava’s arm. She looked at Charles and asked, “Charles, is this too much trouble for
you?
Charles shook his head with a soft chuckle. “Not at all. Just focus on your studies. I’ll make sure Sharon takes good care of Ava while she

recovers.”
Naomi smiled warmly at him. “Thank you, Charles.”
Charles teasingly brushed Naomi’s nose with his finger, “Why are you acting so formal with me?”
Naomi lowered her gaze, her cheeks turning bright red.
Outside, Teresa watched everything happening inside the house, taking it all in.
Her husband and daughter liked Naomi so much, they even went out of their way to treat Naomi’s mom with the same affection. But when it came to Teresa’s own family, they never had that kind of patience.
Since their marriage, Charles had never stepped foot in the Sullivan family’s home–not even once. Teresa doubted he would even recognize her family if he saw them in a crowd.
And Yolanda broke Teresa’s heart. Linda had spent the whole afternoon preparing a special dinner, only for Yolanda to criticize it. Yet, she couldn’t stop thinking about Ava’s simple dish for days.
It hit Teresa then–Yolanda had faked her stomachache just so she could come back and see Ava. And Charles’s excuse about meeting Jason was just a cover.
Perhaps Yolanda had already known that Charles and Naomi were going to pick up Ava.
After leaving Joyacre Villa, Teresa drove back to Sullivan Mansion by herself. That night, Teresa lay awake once more, her mind too restless for sleep.
Early the next morning, Monica knocked on Teresa’s door. “Aunt Teresa, you’ve got another delivery.”
Teresa groaned and rolled out of bed. “Got it.” Not wanting her family to worry, Teresa dabbed on a bit of powder to hide how tired she looked before heading downstairs.
The package had already been brought in by Betty, and Monica was crouched in front of it, fiddling with it curiously. “What’s in there?” Monica asked as Teresa approached.
Teresa opened the package and before she could figure out what it was, the item inside began to expand, getting bigger and bigger. It turned out to be a massive stuffed animal–so huge, it made anyone standing next to it look tiny.
Monica looked puzzled. “Aunt Teresa, don’t you already have a stuffed animal? Why get another one?”
