When She Turns Her Back (Teresa and Charles) novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114

From Ava’s tone, Teresa could tell she was fully aware that Naomi was out there ruining someone else’s family. But instead of feeling ashamed, Ava sounded selfrighteous.

Even though Ava was sick, Teresa had no patience left for her. With a mocking smile, Teresa said, You sure love to meddle, don’t you? Is your life so boring that you have to stick your nose into other people’s problems?

Ava’s face turned cold at Teresa’s harsh words. Can’t you see it yet? Charles doesn’t love you anymore. The one he cares about now is Naomi.

Teresa shot Ava a cold stare, her eyes burning with anger. I don’t need you to spell it out for me. But let me remind youthis place is half mine. If I don’t want you here, I can kick you out.

The only reason you’re staying here peacefully is because I’m allowing it. You should be thanking me. Got it?

Ever since she moved into Joyacre Villa, everyoneeven Charleshad treated Ava with respect. But Teresa made it clear she wasn’t welcome, and Ava couldn’t take it anymore.

Not caring where she was, Ava grabbed a decorative item and threw it at Teresa, shouting, You bitch!

Teresa ducked just in time, and the decoration shattered on the floor. Looking down, Teresa realized it was Yolanda’s favorite toythe one Yolanda had spent days building piece by piece.

Yolanda’d kept that toy for a whole year, never wanting to throw it away. Teresa remembered how she’d stayed up late with Yolanda, /working together to finish it.

Ava realized her mistake too late, staring at the broken toy on the floor. She had seen Yolanda playing with it nonstop these past few days, and now, she had smashed it. If Yolanda found out, she would definitely blame Ava.

Just then, Yolanda’s cheerful voice rang out from the doorway. Ava, I’m back. Look what I brought you.

Ava’s panic was instant. Without missing a beat, she rushed to the shattered toy and sat down on the pieces, wailing dramatically, Ouch! Why’d you push me?

Teresa turned around to see Ava sitting on the broken toy, crying and slapping her own legs, looking like a child throwing a tantrum.

The shouting caught Charles and Naomi’s attention, and they quickly walked in.

the floor?

As soon as Naomi saw Ava on the floor, she rushed over to help her up. Mom, what happened? How did you

Ava, with red eyes and tears, complained, Naomi, thank goodness you’re here. I was just about to take my medicine when Teresa barged in, yelled at me, and pushed me.

I fell and then she grabbed Yolanda’s toy to throw at me. I dodged, and it broke.

Hearing Ava’s words, Yolanda, who had been holding something in her hands, dropped it and rushed over, staring at the broken toy pieces. Mom, that was my favorite toy. Why did you break it?Yolanda glared at Teresa with anger in her eyes.

Teresa looked down at Yolanda and tried to explain, I didn’t break it. She smashed it trying to hit me.

Yolanda got even angrier, kicking Teresa hard. You’re the worst. Stop lying! Ava would never break my toy. You did it, you’re the one who broke it.”

Teresa felt a sharp pain in her chest as she watched Yolanda. She smiled bitterly, saying nothing, her eyes sweeping over Ava, Yolanda, and Naomi. The pain and disappointment were clear in her gaze.

At that moment, Charles strode over, seized Teresa’s hand, and without a word, pulled her out of the hall. His grip was firm, and Teresa couldn’t break free, so she let him lead her out.

Once outside the hall, Charles released her hand and snapped, Didn’t I tell you not to come back to Joyacre Villa? Naomi’s mom is sick. What are you trying to do here?

Teresa lifted her chin and stared at him, her eyes cold. I just came to tell youlet’s stop dragging this out. Sign the divorce agreement from Brocade Villa and mail it to me as soon as possible. Preferably tonight.

Charles frowned for a moment, then quickly smoothed out his expression. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but he didn’t

believe Teresa would actually divorce him.

Teresa loved him so muchshe gave up everything, even her own family, just to be with him. And they had an adorable little girl together.

Even though the admiration she once had for him was gone from her eyes, Charles convinced himself Teresa would never ask for a divorce so easily.

Teresa didn’t stay to say anything more. She turned and walked out without a second glance.

Charles stared after her, his heart a whirlwind of emotions. After a long pause, he pulled out his phone and called Barbara.

Barbara picked up, sounding confused. Mr. Logan, are you coming home tonight?

Charles froze for a moment, then it dawned on himit was the fifteenth again, the day Teresa was supposed to be ovulating. For months, they had been trying for a second child, but suddenly, the whole plan had been abandoned.

Mr. Logan?Barbara’s voice snapped him back to reality.

Charles cut to the chase. Did you find those agreement Teresa left with you?

Barbara paused. Agreement?

Charles rubbed his temples, couldn’t help but feel a little exasperated at Barbara’s forgetfulness.

Barbara had been with Charles since he was a kid. Even though she was getting up there in years, Charles never thought about letting her go. He figured she could stay with him and retire in peace.

But these days, Barbara just wasn’t as quick on her feet as she used to be.

As for this agreement, she’s been looking for it for almost a month and still hasn’t found it. Perhaps Barbara just forgot about it and never bothered to look again.

But then, something seemed to click for Barbara. Oh, that’s right. Mrs. Logan did give me a document. I put it away somewhere, but now I can’t remember where it is. I’ve looked, but I just can’t find it.
