Chapter 201
When Teresa left the room, no one tried to stop her.
Jason hated her, Ava resented her, and Yolanda didn’t need her…
Teresa thought to herself, ‘I guess it’s only natural. I’ve always been the odd one out.’
When Teresa got back to her own room, she caught the doctor making his rounds.
The doctor told her that her condition wasn’t serious and that they’d already been considering discharging her.
Even if the doctor hadn’t said anything, Teresa had already decided she was leaving the hospital today.
That afternoon, Yvonne came over and ran around handling everything for Teresa’s discharge.
By the time everything was sorted out, it was already past five.
Once all the errands were done, Yvonne took Teresa home to the Sullivan Mansion.

As soon as they stepped into the main hall of the Sullivan Mansion, Teresa immediately noticed Hector sitting very upright and proper on the sofa.
He looked tense and uneasy, clutching his teacup and taking small, anxious sips one after another.
When he saw Teresa and Yvonne walk in, he quickly got up from the sofa and greeted them, “Yvonne, Teresa, you’re back.
Yvonne was briefly taken aback to see Hector there but quickly offered a polite smile. “Hello, Dr. Reed.”
The tips of Hector’s ears flushed pink–a clear giveaway that he was embarrassed.
Teresa saw Hector was feeling awkward, so she walked over with a soft smile. “Come on, Hector, relax and sit down,” she said, trying to ease hirn.
Yvonne picked up on the vibe that the two needed some space, so she tactfully slipped away and went upstairs.
When Hector saw Teresa looking so thin, it felt like something twisted painfully inside him.

Teresa passed Hector a handful of dried fruit as she replied, “I’ve been running a fever the past couple of days, so I couldn’t make it to the hospital.”
Hearing that, Hector immediately reached out to check her forehead, then compared it with his own, just to make sure.
Once he was sure Teresa didn’t have a fever, he asked with concern, “Are you feeling any better today?”
Teresa nodded and smiled. “Yeah, I’m feeling much better now.”
Hector listened to her words in silence.
He couldn’t help but think to himself, ‘Maybe she doesn’t really

“Aunt Teresa, you’re really back!” Monica squealed, practically bouncing with excitement.
She darted into Teresa’s arms, her face streaked with both tears and laughter.
Teresa hugged Monica tightly, a wave of bittersweet emotion stinging her nose.
In that moment, she couldn’t help but think of Yolanda.
After their hug, Monica plopped right down on Teresa’s lap, the two of them sitting face–to–face

Monica reached out, absentmindedly playing with Teresa’s hair as she chattered, “Aunt Teresa, Mr. Reed brought so, so many presents! He got Grandpa wine and supplements, Grandma a cheongsam and some fancy skincare stuff, a tie for Dad, a watch for Mom, and there’s this giant box with your name on it…”
At that, Monica scooted closer and whispered secretively into Teresa’s ear, “Aunt Teresa, I snuck a peek—there’s all kinds of yummy snacks, drinks, a game console, and even some cute accessories!”
Then Monica straightened up, grinning from ear to ear. “He even got me presents too–so much chocolate, and tons of Barbie dolls!”
Teresa looked at Monica, charmed by how sweet and adorable she was. She couldn’t resist reaching out and brushing Monica’s nose with her finger, saying, “You little rascal.”
Monica let out a couple of giggles and said, “Then I’m going upstairs to play with my Barbies, Aunt Teresa!”
Teresa nodded. “Okay, have fun.”
Once Monica had disappeared upstairs, Teresa turned to Hector, her smile gentle and a little grateful. “Thank you,” she said.
Hector didn’t acknowledge her thanks–instead, after a brief pause, he said, “Professor Judd’s having a get–together this weekend, and he told me to bring you along.”
Teresa looked a bit taken aback, but she nodded. “Alright.”
It was still early, and the Sullivans hadn’t come home yet, but the servants were already busy getting dinner ready.
Hector had finished handing out his gifts and caught up with Teresa, but he made no move to leave, just lingering around the living
room.
It wasn’t until seven that the rest of the Sullivans finally got home.
Hector was invited to stay for dinner, and he agreed without any
hesitation.
During dinner, Howard kept chatting with Hector.
At first, Howard just made the usual small talk.
But once the conversation warmed up, Howard started asking about Hector’s family background.
“Are you an only child?” Howard asked.
“Yes,” Hector replied.
“Are your parents still around?”
“Yes, they’re both still alive. They’re both just ordinary working–class people.”
“How old are they?”
“Mr. Sullivan, my dad’s pushing sixty, and my mom’s fifty–six.”
Howard let out a slow, thoughtful “Oh, I see.”
Even though it was Howard firing off the questions. Theodore and Linda were quietly keeping a close eye on Hector’s every answer
When Howard finally ran out of things to ask, he didn’t bother hiding the fact he was pretty satisfied with Hector as a candidate–his face said it all
Hector wasn’t oblivious—he could clearly feel that the Sullivans genuinely liked him. So, as the dinner carried on and the mood became more relaxed, he stood up and began making rounds with his glass, toasting everyone at the table.
When he got to Teresa, he paused, raising his glass with a gentle smile. “Teresa, wishing you a bright future, may everything go your

He almost blurted out “may you find true love,” but at the last second, the words caught in his throat and he left the sentence hanging
