Yolanda’s eyes instantly filled with tears as she listened to Charles. Why does it always turn out like this?‘ she thought to herself.

Yolanda said, her voice trembling, “But Dad, how long is Mr. Richard going to stay?”
Charles paused, carefully choosing his words. “Honestly, I don’t know. It might be a week, maybe a month, or maybe even a whole
year…”
Judging from Richard’s attitude, it looked like he planned to live with Charles for the rest of his days.
Yolanda didn’t blame Richard at all. Instead, her voice shook with worry as she asked, “But Dad, what if I start missing Miss Naomi?”
Charles was briefly stumped, but he put on a reassuring smile and said, “Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll figure something out.”
He hadn’t worked out a plan yet, but just hearing his promise made Yolanda light up with happiness.
Richard went to rest, and Charles headed upstairs to keep Yolanda company, leaving Teresa standing alone in the living room, not quite sure what to do with herself.
In the end, she just went up to the second floor after all.
Out of habit, she pushed open the door to the room she used to share with Charles, as if she’d done it a thousand times before.
When she flicked on the light, the room was bathed in soft, pastel colors.
The bedspread was a delicate lavender, the wardrobe was pure white, and the dressing table was white as well.
Everything she saw was in those gentle, muted hues.
Standing there, Teresa felt a strange sense of unfamiliarity wash over her.
The layout was still exactly the same, but all the stuff inside had gotten a total makeover.
Back then, Teresa stuck to black, white, and gray, just to please Charles.
But now, Naomi could decorate however she wanted, doing things her way.
Everywhere you looked, you could see traces of Naomi in the room.

Her hairbrush and skincare products were arranged on the dressing table, a medical book sat open on the desk, an unused sleep mask rested beside the pillow, and a pair of pink slippers waited by the bed.
And everywhere you looked, Charles’s things were scattered around too, blending right in.
Their stuff was all mixed together, turning the whole place into a set straight out of a romantic drama.
Back then, Teresa and Charles had been intimate in this room, too.
But now, this place belonged to Charles and Naomi.
‘Who knows how many things they’ve tried in here, Teresa thought to herself, unable to stop her imagination from running wild.
Her mind racing with wild thoughts, Teresa suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
Turning around, she found Charles coming her way. His tone was cool as he said, “Looks like you’re going to be staying at Joyacre Villa for the foreseeable future.”
She just listened quietly, not saying anything.
Charles didn’t try to force the issue, simply letting her be.
After a few moments of silence, Charles finally walked over to the wardrobe and opened the door. All sorts of colorful outfits were hanging in the closet, with only a small spot tucked away in the corner for Charles’s shirts and suits.
Looking at the wardrobe like this, Teresa couldn’t help but think back to how things used to be.

She’d tried hanging her clothes next to Charles’s before, but by the next day, either her clothes would mysteriously vanish, or his would end up getting taken out.
Teresa watched Charles as he sifted through the pile of colorful clothes and finally pulled out a set of soft teal pajamas.
He turned to her, holding out the pajamas. “These belong to Naomi, but I haven’t seen her wear them yet–they should be clean. After you freshen up, you can use them tonight. Just hang in there for now, and tomorrow I’ll make sure you get everything you need.”
She eyed the pajamas. They definitely stood out from the rest, but Teresa didn’t reach out to take them.
She lifted her head, locking eyes with Charles, refusing to back down. “So, Charles, when exactly are you going to tell Grandpa that we’re about to get divorced?”
Charles’s tone softened, with a hint of pleading. “Grandpa’s health isn’t great right now… at least, not at the moment.”
Teresa let out a sigh. “If you can’t do it, then I’ll tell him myself.”
Charles instinctively reached out and took her hand. “Please, let me talk to him when the time is right. Don’t mention it now–I just don’t want to upset him.”
Teresa didn’t want to make Richard feel bad either, so she slowly twisted her hand free. Once she’d pulled away completely, her voice turned cold as ice as she said, “I’ll sleep in the guest room.”
But Charles immediately pulled her back by the arm. “Stay here tonight.”
Only then did Charles slowly release her hand.
Teresa didn’t resist as he held her arm. She tilted her head up to meet his gaze, her voice distant and frosty, divorced. Sleeping in separate rooms–it’s the distance we should have now.”

As for the pajamas in his hand, she wouldn’t deign to wear them.
Once she was free, Teresa spun around and left, not even sparing Charles a single glance.
On her way to the guest room, Teresa passed by Yolanda’s bedroom.
The door was slightly ajar, and as Teresa walked by, she heard Yolanda’s voice on the phone. She paused, listening closely, and caught Yolanda saying, “Honestly, I’m not happy at all that Mom’s home today.”
Those words stabbed Teresa right in the heart, making it twist with
pain.
Teresa found herself thinking about the old Yolanda–the sweet, lovable little girl who couldn’t leave her side, always glued to her like
her shadow…
‘What did I do to make her hate me now?‘ Teresa wondered, her heart aching with confusion.
With a heavy heart, Teresa straightened up and dragged herself toward
