Chapter 207
Teresa and Wendy chatted away until it was well past 1 a.m. before finally agreeing to get some sleep.

But just as they were about to drift off, a loudspeaker blared from downstairs, shattering the peace.
Someone shouted twice through the loudspeaker, the noise echoing through the night.
In that moment, Teresa started to realize who the man behind the loudspeaker was–she could vaguely make out his voice.
Wendy, however, had recognized the culprit even before Teresa did.
Just from that one shout, Wendy immediately knew it was George.
It was dead quiet in the neighborhood at this hour, until George’s antics jolted the peace–lights started coming on in apartments up and down every building.
Some residents, unable to take it, yelled from their windows, “Are you nuts? What the hell are you doing screaming like that in the middle of the night?”
Others joined in, “Seriously, if you want to act crazy, at least wait until daytime!”
But George paid no attention to any of them. He’d pulled so many strings just to find out where Wendy giving up his shot at getting her back.

So he shouted into the loudspeaker, not caring about anything else: “Wendy, I know I screwed up before. It was all my fault. Please, forgive me.”
When Wendy heard George apologizing, it didn’t touch her at all. -in fact, all she felt was pure disgust. If anything, his words just made her feel even more revolted.
George kept yelling from downstairs, “Honey, please, forgive me! I swear I’ll never do anything just come down and see me, just for a minute–that’s all I want, just to see you once!”

Wendy knew George’s tricks all too well. He was only acting all pitiful to lure her downstairs- -she’d seen through this pathetic show ages

She knew that the minute she actually went down there, and the two of them were alone, he’d drop the act and show his true colors just like always.
That’s why, besides a little sting in her heart, all Wendy felt toward George was disgust–nothing else.
George’s late–night antics were driving the whole neighborhood up the wall. Wendy didn’t even have to show her face–people were already shouting at him from their upstairs windows, some even tossing wilted greens and lettuce leaves down at him in protest.
Even with all this going on, George showed no sign of backing off. He just kept shouting, “Wendy, I know you still care about me, so please, let’s not put ourselves through this anymore. Come down and meet me, just the two of us- –can we talk in private?”
Just then, Wendy suddenly threw off her blanket and got out of bed.
Teresa, seeing her get up, called out anxiously, “Wendy, what are you doing?”
Wendy glanced at Teresa’s worried face and couldn’t help but chuckle. “What? You think I’m actually going to go see him?”
Teresa just stared at her, not saying a word.
Wendy walked over to the coffee table, picked up her phone, and turned back to Teresa. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to see him. I’m calling the cops.
With that, Wendy made the call to the police, calmly laying out the whole ordeal. The officer on the line promised they’d send someone over as soon as possible.
Less than ten minutes later, the cops showed up at the apartment complex.
They hauled George away, charging him with disturbing the peace.
After all the chaos George had stirred up, there was no way Teresa or Wendy were getting any sleep.

Chapter 207
Since they were both wide awake, they figured they might as well keep talking.
They kept chatting, and before they even realized it, it was already well past 2 a.m.

The silence of the night was shattered when Teresa’s phone suddenly started ringing, making both girls jump in surprise. Teresa glanced at the screen and saw it was Charles calling. She paused, not sure if she really wanted to answer him at this hour. ‘Seriously? Why is he calling me so late?‘ Teresa found it downright odd and couldn’t help but wonder what was going on.
Still, her curiosity won out in the end, and she picked up the phone.
Teresa picked up but stayed silent. After a few seconds, Charles finally spoke. “Are you at Joyacre Villa?”
She thought, ‘He must not be there himself if he’s asking me this.
Teresa just answered honestly, “No, I’m not.”
Charles barely seemed to react to her answer, just tried again, “Yolanda woke up crying in the middle of the night. Can you come bac and comfort her?”
Teresa couldn’t help but chuckle. “So you called me at this hour just for that?”
Charles replied, “You’re Yolanda’s mother. Who else do you expect me to call?”
Teresa shot back, “And you? Aren’t you her dad? Why don’t you go calm her down yourself?”
Charles just said, “I’m busy. If I wasn’t, do you think I’d be calling you in the middle of the night?”
Teresa let out a short laugh. “What about Naomi? I thought Yolanda loved Miss Naomi best?”
Charles hesitated before saying, “She’s busy too.”
“Oh, so you’re both ‘busy‘? What is it this time–too busy rolling around in bed together?” Teresa yelled into the phone, her anger practically exploding..
She let out everything she’d been holding back, shouting straight at Charles on the other end.
Once she’d gotten it all out, she didn’t hesitate–she hung up on him, slamming her phone down with a cold finality.
After hanging up, Teresa found herself shaking with anger. Wendy saw just how upset she was, and her heart ached for her friend.
Wendy walked over and hugged Teresa, worry written all over her face. “Don’t get so worked up over him. He’s not worth it.”
Teresa gave a small nod. “Yeah.”
It was almost 3 a.m. by the time the two finally crashed and called it a night.
Wendy drifted off in no time, but Teresa just couldn’t sleep. She found herself mindlessly scrolling through her phone.
She opened up WhatsApp and, while browsing her chats, accidentally tapped into the conversation with Troy.
Just as she was about to back out, she noticed “typing…” popping out.
Teresa blinked, thinking she might be seeing things. She rubbed her eyes and pecked again, but now it was gone.
