Chapter 250
With that, Charles walked into the main hall.
He went to the kitchen, warmed up a cup of milk, and carried it upstairs.
Serena stood outside in the biting wind of early winter, but honestly, it was her heart that felt frozen.
She’d already stood up for Teresa, putting so much on the line for her, yet to her surprise, Charles just wouldn’t budge at all.
Once upstairs, Charles walked into Yolanda’s room.

Yolanda was lying on her bed, engrossed in a game on her tablet. When she heard Charles‘ footsteps, she looked up and asked, “Dad, are you gonna sleep with me tonight?”
Charles thought for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, but before I agree, you need to answer a question for me first.”
Yolanda looked a little confused but said, “Okay, go ahead.”
Charles handed Yolanda the warm milk.
At the same time, he asked, “Who taught you to say those things about Aunt Teresa at dinner?”
Yolanda hesitated for a split second, then said firmly, “Mom taught me.”
Charles stared into her eyes and asked again, “Really not lying to me?”
Yolanda nodded, “Not at all.”
Hearing this, Charles finally relaxed.
After watching Yolanda finish her milk, he said, “Alright, time for bed.”
Yolanda licked her lips, glancing up at Charles as she asked, “Dad, where’s Miss Naomi?”
Charles answered, “Miss Naomi’s busy with her experiments. She won’t be coming back for a couple of days.”
When Yolanda heard that, she felt a little disappointed–but strangely, there was a bit of happiness in her heart too.
When the teacher tried contacting home, they called Charles first, but he didn’t answer. Then they tried Naomi, but she didn’t pick up
either.
At first, Yolanda thought maybe nobody wanted her anymore.
But as soon as she found out the truth, all the gloom from her day vanished. She even whispered to herself, “So that’s why Miss Naomi didnt answer the school’s call.”
Charles caught the change in her mood and said, “Hey, since I have to head out super early tomorrow, Grandma Ava will take you to kindergarten, okay?”
Yolanda instantly pushed back. “No, I wanna stay home with Mr. Richard.”
She didn’t want to go to kindergarten, plus Grandma Ava had pinched her–and even stapped her–before.
Charles picked up on Yolanda’s unhappy mood and dropped his voice, asking gently, “Is it that you don’t really want to go to school?”
Yolanda shook her head, a little grin appearing. “No way, my classmates all like me”
He let out a small breath. “Alright, that’s what I wanted to hear.”
As he spoke, he reached out to softly ruffle Yolanda’s hair.
After tucking Yolanda in, Charles stood up and left the room
Yolanda burrowed under her blanket, silently letting her tears fall
The kids at school didn’t like her–not only did they refuse to play with her, they actually disliked her.

Chapter 250
That’s why Yolanda really didn’t want to go to kindergarten. Honestly, she kind of hated it.

Meanwhile, Teresa, after finishing dinner, was indulging in a foot bath right there in the living room.
Just
as she was enjoying her soak, the notification sound from WhatsApp chimed on her phone.
Wed it might be something from work, Teresa grabbed her phone to take a look.
But to her surprise, the message was actually from Charles.
Charles: “Don’t go saying random stuff around Yolanda.”
Teresa, confused, just sent back a question mark, thinking to herself, ‘What is he even talking about?‘
Charles: “No point in saying more. You know perfectly well.”
Teresa still didn’t get it, so she replied, “You’re crazy!” feeling totally exasperated.
After soaking her feet in the living room, Teresa felt much more relaxed and at ease.
She didn’t pay any more attention to Charles‘ message–after the soak, she just went upstairs.
She had barely set foot in her bedroom when Teresa felt a sudden chill crawl up her back–then, out of nowhere, a hand tapped her gently on the shoulder.
That single touch made Teresa’s heart leap into her throat, and she instinctively screamed.
But in a flash, a large hand clamped over her mouth, trapping her scream in her throat.
Theodore had just come upstairs when he heard a sudden scream coming from Teresa’s bedroom.
Without hesitation, he threw open Teresa’s door.
Pight there, he saw Troy standing behind Teresa, hand clamped firmly over her mouth.
Troy whipped his head toward the door the instant he heard it burst open.
The second his eyes landed on Theodore, he instantly released Teresa, like he’d been caught, red–handed.
At the same time, he straightened up stiffly, standing at attention as he called out in a low, respectful voice, “Brother.”
When Theodore saw it was Troy, his face instantly darkened.
Troy could sense Theodore’s displeasure, and anxiety twisted in his gut as his heart raced wildly.
Teresa turned around to look at Theodore, about to say something, but Theodore beat her to it. “Next time you come over, use the front door.”
He was clearly talking to Troy, his eyes locked on him.
Troy gave Theodore a puzzled look, but Theodore kept his cold expression and said, “No real reason. I just don’t want you falling to your death in our house.”
Even if Theodore’s words weren’t exactly nice, Troy was still genuinely grateful. “Thanks, Brother.”
Teresa was standing right there between them, but it was like she was totally invisible–they just ignored her completely.
Without another word, Theodore turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Suddenly. Troy blurted out, “Goodnight, Brother.”
Theodore didn’t bother to look back, just replied, “Mm”
Just as Theodore was about to walk out. Troy hurriedly called. “Brother, make sure to shut the door for us okay?”
There’s no way Theodore’s actually gonna listen to Troy, Teresa thought
