Before Charles could answer, Jason kept pushing. “I heard you’re already looking at venues.”

you planned it out? When are you gonna pop the question?”

At first, Jason had been trying to show off to Teresa, but now he was genuinely curious.

Charles shook his head. “I haven’t really decided yet.”

Jason caught on that Charles really meant it and jumped in enthusiastically, “Need me to be your proposal planner?”

Charles flashed a faint smile and waved him off, “Thanks, but I’ll handle it myself.”

Jason felt a sting in his heart, but he still put on a show like he was genuinely surprised and delighted.

He said, “Charles, you really treat Naomi well. I’ve never seen you go out of your way like this for anyone else.”

Charles didn’t say anything, just kept quiet.

Teresa and Troy stood nearby, catching every word of the conversation.

When Charles finally stopped replying, Troy couldn’t help but scoff under his breath, ‘When you’ve got no shame, you’re unstoppable.

Jason, who had a short fuse, spun around, glaring at Troy and demanding, “Troy, who the hell are you talking about?”

Troy just sneered, totally unfazed. “Take a wild guess–whoever’s losing it, that’s who”

Jason, furious, rolled up his sleeves and stormed over, ready to throw a punch.

Troy didn’t back down for a second. He stepped forward, getting right in Jason’s face.

As they stood toe–to–toe, Troy curled his lip into a sneer, “Lapdog.”

Jason’s eyes narrowed, that dangerous glint surfacing. He dropped his voice, “You got a death wish?”

With that, Jason was about to throw the first punch.

Troy rolled his shoulders and cracked his knuckles, making it clear he was ready to throw down.

Things were about to get ugly when Teresa stepped forward, grabbing Troy’s ann. She said, Troy, let it go. Just because a dog bites us. doesn’t mean we have to bite back, right?”

Troy froze for a second when he heard Teresa. Then he turned to look at her.

Teresa gave him a firm nod. “Come on, let’s go

Troy clearly didn’t want Teresa to get pushed around, but he also knew that if things blew up, no matter how tough he was, with Charles on the other side, neither of them would walk away a winner,

When Troy heard that, his eyes went cold, ready to blow up, but Teresa stepped in front of him first. She lowered her voice and challenged Jason, “And what about you? Are you really any better? I used to call you a friend–I remembered every single thing you liked to eat and drink. But then you turn around and treat me like this. Is that even something a real friend would do?”

Jason was at a loss for words. He stammered, “You…”

Teresa met Jason’s anger head–on. She called him out loudly, saying, “I can say straight up, everything I’ve done for you, I’ve got a clear conscience. But you? Can you really say you did the same?”

Teresa used to take care of every little thing for him.

But back then, Jason always knew she was just cozying up to him for information about Charles.

So he never took her kindness seriously–he always brushed it off as her sucking up.

Still, no matter her motives, the truth is, Teresa really did treat Jason well back then.

Jason was left staring, lost for words. He shot a look at Charles and blurted, “Charles, aren’t you gonna step in here or what?”

Before Charles even had a chance to open his mouth, Teresa snapped, “What do you expect him to do? He’s just as bad as you–none of you are any saints.”

Jason was practically seething, eyes blazing as he spat at Teresa, “You-”

But before he could finish, Charles tugged him back and stepped in, “Naomi’s waiting on us. Seriously, it’s not worth losing your cool. Let’s just bounce.”

Jason looked like he wanted to snap something back, but after a second thought, he kept his mouth shut.

Still, as they left, he couldn’t help but shoot Teresa a couple of nasty glares.

Troy, pissed off by Jason’s glare, spat, “Keep looking at me like that and I’ll gouge your damn eyes out, lapdog.”

Jason didn’t bother responding, just scoffed loudly.

Troy started to go after him, but Teresa quickly grabbed his arm, saying, “Troy, let it go. He’s not even worth your time.”

Hearing that, Troy reluctantly backed down.

Once Troy was finally calm, Teresa took a breath and said, “Come on, let’s just get out of here.”

Troy just nodded. “Mm.”

Meanwhile, as Charles and Jason walked up to Naomi, they saw her standing there, eyes brimming with tears of emotion streaming down her cheeks.

Whatever darkness had been weighing Jason down vanished in an instant the moment he saw her.

All that lingered on his face was a bright smile and unmistakable adoration.

As they got close, Jason spotted Naomi in tears and couldn’t help poking fun. “Already moved to tears? Just wait till Charles proposes- you’ll be crying buckets!”

Naomi turned to him, feigning offense. “Oh wow, you’re really gonna tease me like that?”

She reached out to swat at him, grinning
