Charles drove toward the movie theater and arrived just as the film was ending, watching couples spill out of the building.
The young couples were all hand in hand, looking intimate and flirty; some even got bold enough to keep making out after stepping outside.
Seeing the scene, Charles couldn’t stop himself from picturing Teresa and Troy in the theater–were they kissing too?
Judging by the showtime, they’d probably watched a horror movie.
And let’s be real, whoever suggested the horror flick definitely had something sneaky in mind.
Charles stood by the curb, and the more he thought about it, the angrier
he got.
He finally saw Teresa and Troy walking out of the lobby together once the crowd had thinned out.
wwwwwwww
The night air was biting, and as soon as they stepped outside, Troy draped his jacket over Teresa’s shoulders.
Before Teresa could even get out a “thank you,” Charles stormed over, his face icy cold and his eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint. His stare was razor–sharp, practically slicing through the air.
“Yolanda’s sick in the hospital, and you still have the nerve to go watch movies with some other guy?” Charles snapped, every word laced with accusation.
He didn’t hold back, questioning her right from the start.
Teresa looked over at Charles, a little laugh tugging at her lips as she retorted, “She doesn’t even see me as her mom, so why shouldn’t I go see a movie?”
Charles’s face was grim as he barked, “Come with me to see Yolanda in the hospital. Last chance.”
Teresa didn’t even pause. “No way. I’m not going.”
Seeing how resistant she was, Charles took a step forward and reached for her hand.
But the moment his hand moved, Troy brushed it aside.
At the same time, Troy positioned himself in front of Teresa, shielding her, and gave Charles a frosty glare. “What do you want now?”
Charles finally turned to Troy, letting out a cold laugh. “Just in case you’ve forgotten–she’s still my wife.”
Troy shot back, mimicking Charles with a mocking smirk. “I thought your wife was Naomi, or did you forget that too?”
Charles’s face grew even darker–it wasn’t often you saw him this pissed. He took a step closer, voice dropping dangerously. “You want me to shove the marriage license in your face?”
Troy stayed rock steady, totally unfazed. In fact, seeing Charles lose his cool just made him feel all the more smug inside.
He gave Charles a mocking look and drawled, “No need for that. But if you’ve got some divorce papers to show off, now that I’d actually like to see.
Charles’s anger cooled off at Troy’s jab. He flashed a cold, mocking smile and shot him a look of pure contempt. “What makes you think I’m gomma divorce her? And since when do you think I’d ever let the two of you end up together?‘
Troy finally lost it. He grabbed Charles by the collar. face turning story. “Say it again, Charles”
Charles arched a row, repeating coolly. “I said, why inakes you think I’d ever divorce her? And why would I ever let you two be Together

Teresa, worried things might really spiral out of control, quickly moved forward and grabbed Troy’s arm. “Troy, let me talk to him. Just the two of us,” she said quietly.
Troy’s eyes were burning red as he glared at Teresa, his voice tightening with anger. “What’s left to talk about? Someone like him doesn’t give a damn what you say–he’ll just think you’re talking crap.”
Teresa felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her gut. She worried that if Troy kept provoking him, it would only push Charles further over the
edge.
If Charles really refused to go through with the divorce, what was she supposed to do?
مراجع
As things threatened to explode, Teresa shouted at Troy, “Troy, he’s still my husband–at least officially! If I don’t talk to him, who else am I supposed to talk to? You?”
Teresa could sense Charles’s anger boiling just beneath the surface. If she wanted the divorce to happen, she’d have to sweet–talk him and coax him along, like it or not.
If he suddenly changed his mind and refused to go through with it once the divorce cooling–off period was up, she’d be totally stuck.
When Troy heard Teresa say that, he stared at her, completely at a loss–shock and surprise written all over his face.
Teresa didn’t even look at him, her tone cold and commanding as she bit out, “This is my problem–stay out of it.”
Troy’s fury shot straight to the top, his eyes blazing as he snapped at her, “You really love him that much? After all he’s done, you’re still taking his side?”
Seeing Troy so riled up made Teresa feel like crap, but honestly, letting Charles lose his cool now would be a total disaster.
She could only roll with Troy’s accusation. “Yeah, he’s my husband, after all. If I’m not taking his side, am I supposed to take yours
instead?”
Hearing that, Troy shoved Charles away and let out a bitter, self–mocking laugh. “Figures. I really am a fucking idiot. Just a damn fool.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he spun on his heel and stalked off.
But halfway there, something made him stop and turn back. He reached out, meaning to snatch his jacket off Teresa’s shoulders–What does she have to do with me now, anyway?‘ he thought, but his hand wouldn’t listen, freezing in midair. In the end, he just couldn’t bring himself to take it back.
Pissed off and annoyed at himself, Troy let out a frustrated snort and stomped off again.
Teresa watched him walk away, an ache twisting in her chest. She instinctively wanted to call his name, but the words caught in her throat and never made it out.
But what she really needed to worry about now was Charles.
After the divorce was official, none of this would matter anymore.
But until then, they were still married.
If Troy pushed Charles top far, he might really refuse to go through with the divorce–and then she’d be truly stuck.
If Charles really dug in his heels and refused the divorce, I’d be totally screwed. No way—it’s just not worth poking the hear, Teresa thought, anxiety guaving at her
After Troy finally stormed ofl. Teresa turned to Charles and sand. Let’s go. I’m coming with you to the hospital
Charles shot Teresa a louk, voice dropping into a working drawl. “You kept watching him leave–what, can’t bear in let him gu?”
Terea avoided picking a light, heading to his car as alte replied. “‘s not be dut. There’s nothing between us, really
