Chapter 58
After leaving Joyacre Villa, Teresa headed back to the hospital for her shift. After work, she invited Hector out for dinner. She still needed to get some advice from Hector about applying to grad school and pursuing a PhD.
Hector was in high spirits and eagerly ordered a few of his favorite dishes. Across the table, they began chatting.
They talked about college, their studies, how tough it was to get into grad school and go for a PhD, and the nerves they felt during their very first surgeries. Hector was a great storyteller, sharing many funny anecdotes from his career.
Of course, Hector didn’t forget to offer Teresa some advice, but he didn’t want to make her nervous, so he kept the conversation light and avoided focusing too much on grad school.
The atmosphere was lively and relaxed. It had been ages since Teresa had felt so relaxed.
As Teresa listened to Hector talk about the hardships of grad school and pursuing a PhD, she felt a mix of exhaustion and envy.
She couldn’t help but think that if she hadn’t given up on those dreams for the sake of her marriage, her life might have turned out differently. Perhaps, she would have been in the same circle as Hector by now.
But those were just beautiful fantasies, She had missed her chance once, but this time, she was determined to grab the opportunity Cedric had offered.
When the meal was almost over, Hector placed a small bag on the table and smiled at Teresa. “Here are a few books for you to look over. I’ve marked the important sections. With your ability, you’ll definitely be one of those who succeed in three months.”
Teresa took the bag, her heart full of gratitude. “Thanks, Hector.”
Hector cheered her on, saying he couldn’t wait to see her shine in the medical world.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the restaurant, Charles and Naomi walked in together. The waiter noticed them and quickly asked, “Would you like your usual spot, Mr. Logan?”
Charles replied coolly, “Yes.”
“Right this way, Mr. Logan,” the waiter said. The waiter led them to a table behind Teresa and Hector, with two tables between them. The distance was far enough that they couldn’t overhear each other’s conversation.
Teresa had her back to Charles and Naomi, and when Charles sat down, he casually glanced over and unexpectedly recognized her. But he didn’t dwell on it.
Teresa had already promised to return to Joyacre Villa whenever Yolanda needed her, so there were no unresolved issues between them.
Naomi, sitting across from him, didn’t even notice Teresa.
But Hector noticed Charles and Naomi, Both men, facing each other, exchanged looks but didn’t mention anything to Teresa or Naomi.
After ordering, Charles handed the tablet to the waiter and said, “A glass of water with a little sugar, please.”
The waiter, eager to please, grinned at Charles. “You’re so good to your girlfriend, Mr. Logan.”
Naomi blushed at the compliment, while Charles remained expressionless, neither confirming nor denying.
When the food arrived, Charles served Naomi but noticed Teresa not far away, laughing with her head down and her hand covering her mouth. Her light, crisp giggles reached his ears.
In the past, Teresa’s smile had always felt too flattering, which annoyed him. But now, her laugh seemed different. For some reason, it made him feel uneasy.
Naomi immediately picked up on Charles’s shift in mood and leaned in, asking softly, “Charles, is something wrong?”
Charles forced a smile and said, “It’s nothing. You were hungry earlier, right? Go ahead and eat.”
Naomi didn’t ask any more questions and just nodded. “Okay”
Soon after. Teresa and Hector finished their dinner and got up to leave together. To avoid Teresa uning into Charles, Hector led her out through a different exit

Chapter 58
Charles saw it all, but he didn’t give it much thought. He felt that as long as she treated Yolanda well, he didn’t mind anything else.
The next day, Teresa headed to Joyacre Villa early again. It wasn’t just to fulfill her end of the deal with Charles, she felt that as a mother, she should treat her daughter well.
Even if Yolanda didn’t love her, Yolanda was still her daughter after all, and Teresa had a responsibility to her.
Over the past couple of days, Teresa had started to adjust her mindset. She realized it was only right to treat Yolanda well.
Now, when making breakfast for Yolanda, she felt less awkward. Today, she was preparing soup and sandwiches, making two completely different options so Yolanda could choose.
“As she was washing her hands, Teresa suddenly felt a chill on her back, followed by the odd sound of a zipper sliding.
She was wearing a dress, and when she bent over to make the sandwiches, the zipper slipped down, exposing part of her back.
When Charles got back from his run and saw the kitchen lights on, he remembered Teresa and Hector having dinner together last night. He couldn’t help but wonder if Teresa would still show up this morning to make breakfast for Yolanda.
He quietly peeked into the kitchen and saw Teresa washing her hands with her back to him. The zipper on her dress had come undone, revealing her back.
