Chapter 11
The snow–white papers scattered everywhere.
A sharp–eyed guest spotted something and cried out, “Oh my God! The spouse’s name on the marriage certificate is Ashley Park! It’s not Kate at all!”
Derek was stunned speechless, taking a long moment to recover. “No, that’s not right… how could this be… how…”
He finally panicked.
Back then, to make Ashley happy, he’d softened momentarily and agreed to get their marriage license, to become her legal husband
and wife.
But how did Kate find out?
And she’d brought it out in front of everyone…
It was over…
Derek felt completely hopeless as he was dragged out by James’s security guards who had rushed over.
The wedding concluded smoothly.
There wasn’t a single questioning voice left. After witnessing that scene, everyone felt that these two had gone through so much to finally be together.
Cool breezes swept through the room, but couldn’t ease the burning heat. Kate gripped James’s arm tightly, surrendering herself to sink into bliss with him.
The two returned to Cloud City for their honeymoon.
Every morning Kate’s parents would have breakfast ready, and in the evenings they’d walk hand in hand along the river.
After learning what their daughter had been through, Kate’s parents now adored James deeply.
The family was happy and harmonious every day.
“James, you’ve been married for several days now. When are you planning to have children? While your father and I are still young, we can help you take care of them for a few years.”
Kate shyly interrupted, “Mom, why are you in such a rush…”
Seeing her like this, James smiled indulgently and said to Kate’s mother, “Don’t worry Mom, I’ll work hard on it!”
Kate’s face turned bright red.
The accident happened at that very moment.
Blinding headlights came toward them with a loud crash as James yanked the steering wheel.
But the oncoming car seemed intentionally aimed at them, targeting their front end relentlessly.
James was hit so hard his head was bleeding and he passed out in the driver’s seat
Chapter 11
Kate only suffered minor scrapes but was terrified. “James Jamest”
Kind bystanders helped call an ambulance. Only then did Kate have a chance to look at the vehicle that hit them.
She fruze when she sa
“Derek?”
He’d actually followed them here too?!
Kate quickly shouted to the traffic police in the distance, “It’s him! This man deliberately hit my husband! Officer, this was attempted
murder!”
Derek didn’t run. Instead he looked at her angrily. “You sure change your tune fast, Kate. I was right – you and he were sneaking around behind my back all along!”
“Kate, you’re just a two–timing slut! The police should arrest you!”
Before he could finish, Kate’s father slapped him hard.
“So you’re Derek! You’re the one who lied to my daughter all those years!”
“Secretary Miller, call the police! Tell them someone committed marriage fraud. I want this punk to lose everything!”
Only then did Derek start to get scared, but he still wasn’t backing down. “Uncle, that’s heartless of you. What did I lie to Kate about? I treated her well all these years!”
“Besides, she already slept with me – she’s my woman forever, nothing can change that. How can you call the police on me?”
Kate was furious. “Shut your mouth!”
Kate’s father had already passed out from anger.
He was rushed to the hospital.
As Kate waited outside James’s operating room, her hatred for Derek reached its peak!
Her entire good life had been ruined by him!
But he was still haunting her like a ghost! Showing up here to destroy her peaceful life again!
She hated Derek to death, but as she watched the clock outside the operating room, she finally realized how important James had
become to her.
The moment he was knocked unconscious in the crash, her heart had contracted.
Eight years ago, James had been in a car accident too.
That night she’d suddenly craved puffs from the suburbs, so without a word he’d driven across half the city to buy them.
Just five minutes from home, he collided with a truck.
He was unconscious for three days and nights. The doctor had even issued a critical condition notice.
That time was the closest James had ever come to death. Kate had even considered dying with him.
Chapter 11
She couldn’t lose him.
Absolutely couldn’t.
Eight years later history repeated itself, but this time it was deliberate.
