Chapter 14
Kate, still recovering from her serious illness, was immediately knocked to the ground,
Her palm accidentally pressed against glass shards from a cup that had shattered in the chaos. Blood soaked through her loose hospital gown as she gasped from the pain.
Just then, James finally rushed over.
He threw a stack of documents at Derek’s face, his voice cold as ice. “See for yourself!”
Derek suspiciously took the documents, and was stunned after just one glance.
He slowly pushed Ashley away from his arms.
Staring at her intently, he asked, “The kidnapping – you planned it?”
Ashley opened her mouth, somewhat panicked, and quickly explained, “It wasn’t me! How could it be me? Derek, I’m carrying our child – how could I risk both our lives to frame Kate?”
But Derek laughed, a very sarcastic laugh, then viciously threw that stack of documents on the ground.
“Ashley, you’ve been lying to me all this time!”
Ashley finally panicked completely.
She frantically grabbed at Derek’s sleeve begging for mercy, but Derek was too furious to listen to anything. He shook off her grip and
strode out.
Ashley was thrown to the ground, clutching her stomach in agony.
James gave her one cold look then helped Kate back inside.
After Ashley miscarried, she tried to find Derek several more times, but was stopped by bodyguards each time. They said Mr. Stone had given orders – no one from the Park family was to be seen.
Ashley had completely lost Derek’s heart.
With nowhere else to turn, she could only kneel in front of Stone Group, tearfully recounting her years of devotion to Derek.
From their first meeting at age three to her crush at six, from confessing at ten to dating at fifteen.
She talked until Derek finally couldn’t stand it anymore and came out. Her eyes lit up, but she received a legal notice instead.
“I’ve had my lawyer file charges for your kidnapping of Kate.”
“Ashley, enjoy prison.”
When Kate’s parents learned what their daughter had been through this time, they were so angry they wanted to confront Derek immediately.
But Kate stopped them. “I’ve already submitted evidence to prosecute Derek for tax evasion. The local court will hear the case soon, and he’ll get what’s coming to him.”

Chapter 14
She didn’t want her parents dragged into this mess too.
But her parents were determined. “Not just tax evasion he committed marriage fraud too! He lied to you for so many years. If not for him, you might have come back to us long ago and lived happily with James!”
Talking about this made the elderly couple grit their teeth in anger.
Kate fell silent, because what her parents said made perfect sense.
If not for that accident and car crash years ago, her life trajectory would have been completely different.
Derek had already been summoned to court. Having lived with him for years, Kate had collected comprehensive evidence that left him with no way out.
He was sentenced to prison and ordered to return all state assets within a time limit.
At this point, Sullivan Group and the Hayes family joined forces to comprehensively target all of Stone Group’s business and partnerships. Every deal they tried to make, the Sullivans would intercept, while also exposing Stone Group’s misdeeds to the world.
After several rounds of this, no one would work with Stone Group anymore.
Sullivan Group had always been on par with Stone Group anyway, and now with Stone Group’s reputation in tatters, people naturally turned to Sullivan Group instead.
For a time, James and Kate were making money hand over fist.
Derek was locked away in prison without seeing daylight, visibly wasting away.
Until one day, he caught a glimpse of a figure passing by.
He immediately threw himself against the bars, asking in disbelief, “Who was that woman just now?!”
Someone in the know said, “You don’t know her? That chick got busted for kidnapping. Word is she’s doing hard time for years. Damn shame – pretty young thing like that throwing her life away.”
Derek burst into laughter.
“Good! Excellent!”
“She finally got her comeuppance! Hahaha, Ashley! You ruined my marriage and family, and now you’re finally getting what you
deserve!”
No one paid attention to him. The other inmates all thought he’d lost his mind.
James and Kate’s relationship grew more stable. In the spring, Kate was confirmed pregnant.
When they were shopping for baby supplies, they ran into Derek, who had escaped from prison.
“Kate! Kate!”
When Derek rushed up to them, Kate was startled.
The man before her had a messy beard, prominent cheekbones, and a frighteningly gaunt face. He no longer had any of his former handsome appearance.
She instinctively took a disgusted step back, but Derek was extremely excited and tried to grab her hand. “Kate, about the kidnapping
