I was wearing a black knee length from FFF–Femme Fatale Fashion–one of the world’s leading fashion brands. I had no idea the dress existed until earlier, when Void tossed it to me from among the things he’d packed. Apparently, he’d packed a few essentials for me without letting me know.
My gaze dropped to the floor as I ambled toward where he stood by the door, one hand shoved in his pocket while he leaned against the doorframe.
I was fully clothed, yet I felt naked under his scrutiny. Because the way Void stared wasn’t the way normal humans stared at people. He usually stared at me with so much intensity, like I was a puzzle he was hell bent on solving. Yet, the motherfucker derived joy in hurting me.
I stopped in front of him. He was standing in the way, so I couldn’t exactly go any further. Why the hell was he taking so long to move from the door? And what was he staring at?
Still, I didn’t bring my gaze to meet his.
“The dress looks lovely on you,” he finally said. I felt his stare drag along my bare legs. “Funny how all I want to do is rip it apart.”
I took a small intake of breath, my gaze instinctively meeting his.
Oh, great job, Rali. You couldn’t ignore something that simple?
I swallowed the dryness in my throat and quickly looked away. “Are we leaving or not?”
He chuckled.
Why did he always find my sarcasm funny?”
“You know, Rali,” he glided his fingers through the strands of my hair. “Looking as gorgeous as you do, you could make me do anything.”
Really? Would you leave me if I asked you to?Devilishly not.
He took my hand in his, guiding us through the door.
“You don’t have to hold me. I can walk just fine.” I tried to wriggle my hand free, but he held firmly.
“I know you can walk, Green, but where’s the fun if I don’t make you feel like a queen?” He said with his cocky smile,
I grappled even more to free my hand. God, I hated him
“You know, it’s annoying when you pretend to really like me. It’s not like you’ve left me with a choice. So, you don’t really have to keep trying and failing woefully to impress me.” I kept my voice biting but low. Anyone could be in this passage.
That stopped him.
He halted mid–step, dragging me to a full stop. I turned to look at him, but he was already staring, his brows drawn like I’d said something in a foreign language.

Chapter 55
“You’re joking, aren’t you, Rali? Or are you seriously being ridiculous?”
I swallowed tersely, suddenly feeling chastised, like a child.

“If you think I’m putting up an act to get into your pants–which I already have without your consent–then you clearly think little of me. I am a man that takes what I want when I want it. So, when I tell you you’re beautiful and that I want you, I say it because I mean it. Not because I have to.”
His grip on my hand stayed tight as he resumed walking.
My feet followed before my brain did, and somewhere in that moment, I realized two things: Void was pissed. And suddenly, it felt scorching hot in this damn passage.
His words involuntarily repeated in my head as we walked in silence. Then, as the glow of the Grand Galley spilled into view, revealing a feast and already–seated guests, I broke the hush.
“They don’t know who you truly are, do they?” I murmured as we approached them. “All these naive people. They smile and respect you, yet they have no idea you’re a heartless chump who has been killing for years.”
It was amusing how he didn’t get offended whenever I called him names that indicated he was ‘evil. It was as if he enjoyed being evil and was glad when people acknowledged him for that.
“Well, what can I say I, Green?” he leaned close enough for his breath to warm my ear. “Sweet ignorance is bliss.”
“Mr. Machai!” Igor called, excited. “I was just about to send someone over to check on you.”
For the next minute, pleasantries flew like confetti as Void and I settled into our seats, which was next to each other’s, of course. God, this guy deserved an Oscar. He played the role of an innocent, charming young man so well, no one would ever suspect he was The Torturer.
The table stretched long and wide, surrounded by twelve chairs, all occupied by people who smelled like wealth. These people were, no doubt, titans of the country, specially invited to dinner by Igor. I couldn’t help but wonder how Void became so acquainted with the man.
Igor’s wife, Yvette was present as well, and just like earlier, her eyes painted with disdain every time they drifted to me. What the hell was her problem?
Well aside from her, the rest of the people at the table were nice and welcoming.
“How did you two meet, honey?” Igor asked after a round of easy chatters.
I paled, and I think that must be the reason he quickly added, “Machai here has always been uptight when it came to women. I never thought I’d see the day he’d bring a woman to the table.”
To my surprise, Yvette said, “That bit is correct. Machai has only been interested in the ‘sex and dump‘ program. I’m fairly certain that’s his favorite phrase.” She gave a tight–lipped smile while staring right at Void.
Void, unbothered, chuckled as he lifted his glass. “You seem to know me well, Yvette. Well, the truth is, Rali’s always been mine. We just had… geographical issues. Time fixed that. Now she’s here. Permanently.”
“I see.” Yvette looked like she wanted to say more but didn’t.
Okay, something was definitely up with these two. The idea of it made my skin crawl.
