You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 219

The hallway went dead silent in an instant.

Kelly and Howard both stared at Patricia.

Patricia looked back at them, her gaze lazy and laced with a hint of sarcasm as she fiddled with a balled-up tissue, tossing it from hand to hand.

The whole scene dragged her back to four years ago, to her first day at the Newtons’ mansion. She’d been sitting in her wheelchair in that same hallway, looking up at these two standing so tall and untouchable on the other side.

Back then, they’d looked at her with nothing but pity and disgust, acting like she was beneath them.

But now, things had changed.

The disgust had twisted into pure hatred.

Ever since Patricia’s leg had healed, she’d loved wearing short skirts and high heels, showing off her long, pale legs for all to see. The same people who used to call her a cripple now had nothing to say.

Kelly’s eyes lingered on Patricia’s legs. She sucked in a sharp breath, balling her fists, just barely holding herself back from marching over and starting a fight.

Howard wrapped an arm around Kelly’s waist, steering her away. As they passed Patricia, she locked eyes with Kelly, and the tension between them was almost electric.

Patricia’s lips moved, silent but perfectly clear: “Slut.”

Her Mandarin was so crisp and clear that, even without a sound, Kelly caught every syllable.

“What did you just say?” Kelly’s self-control snapped.

Her voice trembled with fury as she glared at Patricia, murder in her eyes.

Patricia cocked her head, acting like she had no idea what Kelly was talking about.

“Patricia, didn’t your parents teach you any manners? Or did you just never learn?” Kelly snapped.

“Oh, so calling people names right off the bat is what counts as manners now, Mrs. Newton?” Patricia shot back.

“Maybe you should think about what you just said,” Kelly pressed, her voice tight.

Patricia just smirked. “Why don’t you tell me, then? What exactly did I say?”

Kelly’s expression flickered, her confidence faltering. She couldn’t actually repeat those words in front of Howard. If he started digging, things could get ugly for her.

“Apologize, Mrs. Newton. If you don’t, I have no problem calling the police.” Patricia pulled out her phone, her finger hovering over 911.
