Kent was Emerson’s golden boy. In the office, he could get anything he wanted with just a word.
And now Patricia had gone and picked a fight with him.
She’d actually done it. She was really taking him on.
“You’re fearless. What are we supposed to do now?” Aurora pulled out a chair and sat down, her eyes flicking to the black pen on the table. It wasn’t in its usual spot. Her gaze sharpened with suspicion.
Patricia picked up the pen and rolled it between her fingers. This wasn’t her pen.
With a quick twist, she popped open the barrel. Inside, something high-tech was hidden—definitely not standard office supply.
Aurora’s breath hitched, about to say something.
Patricia put a finger to her lips, signaling her to be quiet.
Ruby had tried a stunt like this before, but Patricia had exposed her in front of Tina. No way it was their doing this time.
So who was it?
Patricia grabbed her phone and messaged Aurora: Anyone new been sniffing around sales lately?
Yeah! Aurora messaged back almost instantly.
She logged into the company intranet, looked up a name, took a screenshot, and sent it over.
Patricia checked the image.
Sally? Another Lawrence?
What was her connection to Kent?
Patricia shot Aurora a questioning look.
Aurora just mouthed two words. His daughter.
Emerson was clearly focused on building up the Lawrence family.
That evening, Patricia slid into the car.
“Find out what’s really going on between Kent and Emerson,” she told Jackson, sending him Kent’s file.
