You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 334

“Since everyone’s coming anyway, why not wait a bit?” Jackson glanced at Patricia as he steered the car up toward Cloud Peak, sounding genuinely puzzled.

Patricia adjusted her hand on the window and sighed. “I need to get back and do some damage control.”

She’d honestly thought Oliver would be there to meet her when she got off the cruise ship.

But nope.

He was MIA.

Clearly, he was mad.

If she didn’t hurry home, Sara and the others would probably have a meltdown trying to deal with him.

Jackson just shook his head, half-joking. “You know that saying about men being obstacles in a woman’s career? Not wrong at all.”

“Just don’t say that where he can hear you,” Patricia warned, but there was a hint of a smile.

On the drive up, she braced herself for an awkward, chilly vibe at the house.

But as soon as they pulled up, she was hit with the total opposite: laughter, the smell of barbecue, and the sound of kids running around.

Hector was out in the yard with the three little ones, expertly flipping kebabs over the grill. The smoky, mouthwatering scent of lamb drifted up the driveway.

When Hector spotted her, he called out, “Hey, you’re back already?”

Patricia gave him a polite nod. “Mr. McKee.”

He grinned. “Why so formal? Come on in, we’re just hanging out out here.”

Oliver never ate this kind of stuff, so there was no point in inviting him. As for Patricia, no one dared offer her the food either—if she so much as got an upset stomach, everyone would be in trouble.

Inside, as soon as Patricia stepped through the door, she was wrapped in warmth. She slipped off her coat and handed it to Marian.

Marian met her eyes and gave a little nod toward the tea room. “He’s in there.”

“Doesn’t seem like he’s in the best mood. Did you two fight?” Marian asked in a low voice.

“Nope,” Patricia replied, shaking her head as she headed for the tea room.

From the big windows, she could see everyone still laughing and grilling outside.

She walked over to Oliver, who was sitting there, eyes glued to his tablet. She leaned down, wrapped her arms around him from behind, and peeked at the screen. “Checking stocks?”
