You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 361

She really did want to spend her whole life with him.

Finding someone who truly cares about you is rare enough in this world. Finding someone like Oliver was next to impossible.

When Patricia finished speaking, she felt his hand on her shoulder tighten just a little. She looked up and met Oliver’s gaze—those deep, unreadable eyes of his, intense but holding something back.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

Oliver just patted her shoulder gently. “Nothing. Go on, keep reading.”

He had to tear his eyes away from her. If he kept looking, he wasn’t sure he could hold himself back. It took everything in him not to just pull her out of that chair and into his arms.

Outside on the balcony, the winter wind was wild and biting. Oliver leaned against the railing, trying to cool down. He reached for a cigarette out of habit, only to remember it had been ages since he last smoked. With a sigh, he silently blamed Patricia for making him feel this way.

He glanced back at the study, wanting to sneak another look at her. Instead, something scribbled in the snow outside caught his eye.

A short phrase, half-erased by the wind: “Cursed to linger as a vengeful ghost.”

Just seven words, but the wind had already carried half of them away.

Oliver gripped the ornate railing, frowning at the message.

A vengeful ghost? Was she wishing someone dead? This girl really had a dark side.

Inside, the study was filled with warm yellow light. Patricia sat at the desk in a cream knit sweater, face softly lit. She was hunched over her tablet, eyes full of focus, soaking in every word of the documents in front of her like she wanted to carve them into her memory.

Over at the Miller family estate, Nina sat staring at security footage on her phone, her expression dark and stormy.

She had every right to be angry. Last night’s plan to go to the bar with friends had ended before it even started—Joseph had gotten distracted while driving, hit the curb, and the night was over.

She’d thought it was just a dumb accident. Only today did she realize it had all been planned out. They’d done it just to keep her from going to the bar.
