You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 390

Patricia followed Oliver upstairs, trailing behind him like a little puppy.

She reached out, but before she could even touch him, he shut her down with a chilly, “Go brush your teeth and take a shower.”

“Okay,” Patricia mumbled, slipping into the bathroom.

By the time she came out, fresh-faced and damp-haired, Oliver was nowhere to be found. She muttered to herself, pulled back the covers, and dove into bed.

She was about to text Chelsea—just a quick, “How's work going?”—when a news alert popped up on her phone.

“Hotel heir ends up in hospital after wild night.”

Patricia didn’t even need to open the article to know who they meant. She scrolled the comments anyway, reading all the vicious takes on Joseph. She was about to exit when one comment jumped out at her: “Serves him right! Like he’s never put anyone else in the hospital before.”

Curiosity got the better of her. Patricia headed to the study, fired up her laptop, and did a quick IP trace on the commenter. Turns out, the girl worked in hotel management.

Interesting. Maybe there was more to this story.

She snapped a screenshot and sent it to Jackson.

When Patricia got back to the bedroom, Oliver was already lying in bed, phone flipped open as he scrolled through some document, face serious.

She slipped under the covers and scooted up next to him, gazing up at him with hopeful eyes. After a moment, she leaned in and kissed his cheek.

“Do I still smell?”

Oliver didn’t even glance up. “So you admit you stink.”

“But it was so good!” she protested.

He shrugged, still reading. “I get it. I just don’t like it.”

Patricia grinned. “Fine, then I’ll eat it every day and never brush my teeth. Sooner or later, you’ll get used to it.” You think I’m Sara or something? You’re not that scary.

She fluffed her pillow, ready to settle in, but as soon as her elbow hit the bed, Oliver’s arm snaked around her waist, pulling her close.

“You’re here to cure me, huh?”

“As long as you know it,” she hummed, soft and a little smug.

Oliver shifted, hugging her tight against his chest. His lips brushed her neck, warm and ticklish, making her squirm and giggle.
