You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 393

This whole messy situation was almost addictive in its chaos.

Nina took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. She pressed her hand to her chest, closed her eyes for a second, and finally turned around.

Theo spotted the guy next to Nina right away. He recognized him instantly—it was the same guy she’d gone skiing with in Switzerland.

“Your brother’s here too?” Theo asked out of nowhere.

Nina lifted her brows and gave a soft, “Yeah.”

“What floor, which room?”

“1606,” she replied.

Theo nodded. “I’ll stop by and check on him later.”

Nina didn’t say anything.

Let them have their brotherly moment. What did it matter to her?

Joseph had always been so pathetically loyal to Theo. Maybe it was time for Theo to see just how much his little puppy had been through.

When the elevator doors opened, Nina and Theo split up—she went left, he went right. A few steps down the hall, she reached for the doctor’s hand and walked into the hospital room.

Joseph was sprawled at the foot of the bed, buried under a hospital blanket.

He looked up the moment the door opened. Nina was here—and she’d brought someone.

He looked terrible.

He’d gotten drunk, then some guys had mistaken him for someone else and things had gotten out of control. Now it was a full-blown scandal.

He hadn’t wanted to see anyone. And now Nina had brought company.

Joseph’s face darkened. “Why’d you bring someone with you?”

“Mom asked me to,” Nina said, setting the fruit basket the doctor had brought on the nightstand.

She introduced them, kept it brief, and after a few awkward pleasantries, excused herself, saying she had things to do.

As soon as Nina left, the door opened again.

Joseph looked up, clearly annoyed, and when he saw Theo, that annoyance didn’t fade.

“What brings you here?” he asked.
