You Looked Down on Me Once, Now You Look Up. novel Chapter 519

Jackson hung back, trying to play it cool, but it was obvious Patricia was about to blow a fuse.

He grabbed Allen by the collar and yanked him out of the car without a shred of ceremony.

“What are you just standing there for? Waiting for a personal invitation? Move it.”

Old man. So much for your promises. All talk, no follow-through.

A week had passed since the Emerson mess, and Allen still hadn’t done a damn thing he was supposed to.

The plan was simple: trap Emerson between a wolf and a tiger, pressure from both sides.

Instead, Emerson and Tina had joined forces to deal with the threat ahead and still had enough spare time to arrange an assassination attempt on Brandon.

If Brandon died, someone else would take over the case, and then everything would spiral out of control.

Allen stepped out, staring up at the glowing mansion, legs shaking so badly he could barely stand.

He looked at Patricia and stammered, “How did you even get into Cloud Peak?”

Inside, Johns saw trouble brewing and rushed outside.

“Ma’am, do you want me to call security?”

Patricia glanced at Johns and shook her head. “No, it’s fine.”

Then she locked eyes with Allen. “Didn’t you hear what he just called me?”

“If you’re really Mrs. Padilla, why not just have your family take care of Emerson? Why go through all this drama?”

Patricia’s lips curled up, her smile ice-cold. “Because I guess I’m a little messed up, Allen. I want to watch Emerson fall apart, right in front of me. I want to see everything he stole slip away, bit by bit. Isn’t that a lot more satisfying?”

“Allen, when the company changed hands, you were the first board member to agree, weren’t you?”

Hearing that stung. The past felt raw and exposed, especially here and now.
