Narissa had put Alina in her place so many times that Alina was left fuming with no one to take it out on.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself. I don’t believe you’ll pass the rest of the tests either!” Alina snapped.

Feeling completely out of place, she spun around and walked away in a huff.

“She’s got no chill. She couldn’t even keep up, but still had to act tough. Now look, she totally embarrassed herself,” Skye couldn’t help but laugh at Alina.

“Alright, that’s enough,” Leland reminded her, warning not to stir up trouble for herself.

After all, Alina had some serious backing. He really didn’t want Skye to get on the wrong side of her or her powerful

connections.

Narissa shone so brightly that everyone else basked in her glory.

This time, even the instructor had no choice but to apologize to Narissa.

“Narissa, would you mind sharing your secret? How did you pull this off? I’d love to teach it to the next group of trainees,” he asked.

After all his earlier arrogance, the instructor finally swallowed his pride and turned to Narissa for advice.

Narissa had nothing to hide. To her, everyone in the military was cut from the same cloth as she was.

If her experience could help these agents lower their risk of dying in the field, then all her teaching would be worth it.

“Of course, Instructor. I’ll put together a detailed report for you as soon as I can,” she replied.

“Thank you, Narissa!” the instructor exclaimed, nearly in tears.

As soon as the instructor left, Narissa was surrounded by her classmates.

“Narissa, you’re amazing!” one of them exclaimed.

“Yeah, you’re incredible!” another added.

“Teach me!” a third chimed in.

“You three guys, back off. If anyone’s getting a lesson, it better be me first!” Skye said.

Narissa grinned. “Alright, I’ll teach all of you.”

After taking a moment to cool down, Alina came back in, since the next field tactics class was about to start.

This class was all about the kind of trouble they might run into out in the field, and the instructor usually used real cases to get his point across.

The last instructor got embarrassed for underestimating Narissa, so this new instructor came in already knowing a bit about what happened.

He gave Narissa a once–over, sizing her up.

He might not have been the most decorated agent out there, but he was definitely a cut above these newbies.

He began, “Alright, everyone, today we’re going to cover practical field operations theory.

“I’ve told you all before–real combat experience is absolutely vital.

“It could mean the difference between coming home safe or not when you’re out on assignment.”

“So today, we’re going to talk about what to do when things go sideways on a mission.

Alina shot her hand up. “Strike first–eliminate the enemy before they even have a chance to react.”

Skye retorted, “No way. You should grab a hostage and use them to make your getaway.”

Nigel said, “I think the best move is to hide and stay alive. That’s the only way to keep the mission safe.

“If your cover gets blown, not only will you be exposed, but the whole operation–and even the support team working with you–could be compromised.”
