Chapter 17
Elijah listened to his secretary’s report, his gaze cold and obsessive.
“These days, Casper has rejected all our calls, emails, and invitations to negotiate. There are some of his mother’s be- longings at this auction, and I’ve confirmed privately that he will definitely come.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Casper indeed appeared in the distance, entering the auction house surrounded by a crowd.
Elijah lowered his eyes, the corners of his thin lips curling into a neurotic, cold smile.
“He made me and my wife separate, and now he wants to pretend nothing ever happened?”
“Mr. Keeton, everything has been arranged,” the auction manager said respectfully.
Casper nodded and walked into the private auction box prepared especially for him on the third floor.
There was still half an hour before the auction began.
The manager continued to flatter him, “I heard you just got off the plane and haven’t eaten yet, so I’ve had your fa- vorite black truffle foie gras with brandy prepared for you.”
“Mm.” Casper was exhausted, responded perfunctorily, then leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes to rest.
A few minutes later, the door was pushed open. Someone entered, but stopped behind him without moving.
“Get out!” Casper warned coldly.
The
person
still didn’t move.
He instinctively opened his eyes, only to meet Elijah’s eyes, which were filled with a mocking smile.
“Casper, who gave you the guts to send my wife away?”
After a few seconds of silence, Casper sneered and regained his composure.
“Elijah, that’s not the right way to put it.”
He pointed at him from a distance, his tone deliberately provoking.
“You cheated and broke your wife’s heart. She jumped into the sea because of you. What does that have to do with me?”
“Stop playing dumb. Tell me where she is.”

Elijah didn’t believe a single word.
Casper continued to feign ignorance.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
After agreeing to help Nathaly leave, he had already sent his wife and child abroad for the time being.
Elijah wanted to threaten him, but had nothing to use against him.
Casper was prepared for Elijah to lose control and break down.
But unexpectedly, when he looked smugly at Elijah, all he saw in his eyes was a deep, inky sadness that wouldn’t dis- sipate.
Casper was stunned, then teased helplessly, “Mr. Tuckett, with your status as a powerful tycoon, what kind of woman can’t you find? Why be so hung up on just one? Besides, the dead can’t come back to life. How am I supposed to bring her back for you?”
After saying this, he ignored him.
The head of security, who had already noticed the situation on the monitors, arrived with his team and warned Elijah with some trepidation, “Mr. Tuckett, please leave.”
Elijah gave Casper a deep look, said nothing more, and turned to leave.
Two hours later, the auction ended.
Casper successfully won his mother’s belongings at the auction and got into the car, satisfied.
“We’re not going back to the old house today. Go to the secretary’s place.”
He took a pink diamond bracelet out of his pocket, a smile in his eyes.
Just then, his phone rang, and he answered the call.
“Be good and wash up at home and wait for me. Your husband has a surprise for you today. Those little toys we’ve been saving up-”
He flirted as if no one else was around, but when he met the pitch-black eyes in the rearview mirror, he suddenly froze, like a rooster with its neck squeezed.
“Mr. Keeton, you’re in quite a mood,” Elijah said mockingly from the driver’s seat.
Casper was completely infuriated and hung up the phone immediately.
“What exactly do you want?” he asked, enunciating each word.
Elijah remained calm. “My wife, Nathaly.”
Casper sneered, “You can’t threaten me.”

“I’m not threatening you,” Elijah chuckled softly, but it made Casper break out in a cold sweat for no reason.
“Either
you tell me where
my
wife is, or you come with me to hell to atone for her.”
Only then did Casper realize they were driving on a dead-end mountain road.
Less than eight hundred meters ahead was a hundred-meter-high cliff.
“You’re insane!!!”
Casper never thought Elijah would actually go this far. He roared, “Stop! Elijah!”
“Ten, nine…” Elijah calmly counted down.
The car sped up faster and faster.
“…Three, two, one.”
“I’ll talk-”

Casper finally broke down. “You and Nathaly, you two are just a pair of lunatics!”
The car came to a steady stop less than twenty centimeters from the edge of the cliff.
