Conrad POV

I see the door at the back of the hallway move as that rat scurried into the kitchen. Murdock, Connor, and I shift into attack formation and followed Malik. With our guns drawn, we approached the door and pushed it open.
Before we can enter, bullets start raining down on us like an intense summer storm. We have to take cover behind the pillars and plan our next move. There are too many for just Malik to be firing at us, he must have other wolves
here.
I yell at my men. “Connor, Murdock, and I will give you cover. I need you to see if they are wolves or humans with
him“.
Murdock yells back. “Stay low and find the nearest counter to get behind“.
I count down on my fingers, and we storm into the room, firing back. Connor stays with me as Murdock goes and does his own thing. I know not to question anything this man does.
I run behind the nearest counter as a spray of bullets follows me. That’s when I see and smell them. Ten wolves are all in the kitchen and waiter uniforms. I figured he would bring it back up, but didn’t think they would be staff here.
I hear Connor yell over the chaos as he assesses the situation. “ALL BLACK“.
That’s all Murdock needed to hear. He sees a fire extinguisher on the wall and aims straight for it. As soon as the pressure is released, it explodes and sends metal and powder flying.
The enemy screams and ducks at the surprise, which gives us a chance to return fire.
I move left, and Connor moves right, and we take out two wolves each with a clear shot of silver straight to the chest. We take cover before the others have a chance to fire back.
I’m trying to keep our shots to a minimum as we don’t have unlimited silver on us,
Murdock created another distraction by throwing several bags of flour in the air and setting them on fire. This creates a massive fire inferno in the room, and within seconds, Murdock has taken out the other six in quick succession.
I yell at the lunatic. “HOW ABOUT SOME WARNING NEXT TIME?“.
He just smiles back. “Where’s the fun in that?“.
We see the other service door at the back of the kitchen that leads to the main hall. It is the only way out, so he must have gone that way.
We give chase while keeping our weapons drawn. We end up in the centre of the hall with three possible exits he

can get out of.
:
Connor looks to me. “Which way, Conrad?“.
Murdock gets grumpy. “Why not ask me? The most obvious escape route is left as it goes to the car park“.
Connor rolls his eyes. “‘Cause his wolf can pick up the scent trail, dumbass“.

While they are bickering, Jace comes forward with her yellow eyes and inhales deeply as he concentrates on where
he went.
“He’s going right. He’s heading back around“.
We head back around to the main entrance room. That’s when I hear a male scream in pain, and bullets start to fire. We stay around the corner and see people from the Agency firing, but stop when Malik leaves the building.
As soon as the gunfire ceases, we head over. They all point their guns at us, but Agent Carter yells at them.
“FRIENDLIES. There on our side“.
Just as they are trained to do, they all lower their weapons but stay on alert. The sight before me is sickening.
Malik had partially shifted and ripped one of Agent Carter’s men open. He had completely disemboweled him and had used him as a shield in the gunfire. Once he made his escape, he just threw him on the floor like trash.
Agent Carter stares at me with the posture of someone who has seen too much but a fury in his eyes, needing
retribution.
He speaks calmly to me. “We have what we need for phase two. We will launch it in two days unless you can find and
kill that fucker first“.
I just nod and head out the door with Murdock and Conner. That’s when I smell it. Blood. Someone on Carter’s team
got a shot.
Malik would be very weak in his state. Losing his whole pack and being injured is going to slow him down. This might be our chance to end him.
We follow the blood trail to a nearby park. I keep following the scent, but freeze when I hear a click.
BANG
I take a bullet straight into my left shoulder and drop to the ground. The pain is instantaneous. It was a silver bullet.
I’m lying on the floor as I see a shadow cloud covering Malik, which is why I couldn’t sense him. Murdock and Connor start pulling me back behind some trees while keeping their weapons on him.

Chapter 205
He starts mocking us in a demonic voice that echoes through the trees, meaning we can’t pin down his location.
