I let my girl sleep as long as she could. I didn’t get into a deep sleep the entire night. I kept waking to make sure she was still next to me or purring to get her back to sleep from her nightmares.

Liam mind–linked the second that jackass woke up, but he could wait. I even informed the medics that sedating him was needed. They did as he was screaming for my girl.

She wanted to head straight down, but I made sure she got something decent to eat before we left the packhouse.

The sedation must have worn off, as we could hear him screaming as we approached.

*LUNA QUEEN. PLEASE. I NEED YOU. NO ONE WILL TELL ME IF YOU’RE OK. PLEASE LUNA QUEEN. I NEED YOU“.

I froze. No way in hell was I letting this psycho near my girl. I asked her to wait outside his door until I had spoken to him and checked he was fully restrained. She listened as I entered.

“Donovan. You’d better keep your damn voice down in my pack. Why are you here?“.

He looked wild and stared as if seeing right through me. As if I didn’t matter. Just an inconsequential person in his way.

“Conrad. You can get Luna Queen. She’s safe, right? You kept her safe for him. I need to see her. LUNA QUEEN PLEASE“.

I knew instantly he wouldn’t tell me anything. I put on the gloves and went round the bed. I checked all the restraints had him locked firmly in place. Even the chest plate that made sure he stayed firmly in the bed. I mind–linked Lewana and called her in as the two soldiers in the room raised their weapons. The guns didn’t even bother Donovan.

Lewana entered the room with complete poise and grace and stood in the doorway. Liam and Arthur are just out of sight, so they can hear everything. I know she can handle herself, but I also know she is worried as he is acting so irrationally.

Donovan’s face lights up as soon as he sees her. “Luna Queen. He kept you safe. He kept the pups safe. I knew Conrad would. That’s good. It means we still have a chance. We can still fix this“.

It takes everything in me not to growl at him and rip his head off. Jace knows we have to stay calm as we need information.

He is muttering to himself while looking around the room before Lewana addresses him.

“What do we need to fix Donovan?“.

He smiles and laughs like she just told the funniest joke. “The shadows, my Luna Queen. We can work together to get rid of them. It’s

meant to be“.

She just looks at me, confused. The Donovan we knew was put together and controlled. I’m not sure this man even knows he is being detained.

I can tell she is thinking of a way to talk to him and get the information we need. “Do you have a plan, Donovan. To get rid of the

shadows?“.

I can’t stop the growl in my chest from seeping out. Donovan has the fucking audacity to roll his eyes at me. My claws start coming out before Lewana comes through in the mind link.

Calm yourself. He said mark, not mate. Something is off here,“.

She goes back to address Donovan.

“How can I mark Malik when I’ve already marked Conrad?“.

He just stares at her lovingly. “You’re amazing, beautiful, and blessed, my Luna Queen. You can take as many mates as you like. All Alphas will bow down to you“.

A light seems to go off in her head. “You want me to mark Malik to remove the shadows like I did with Conrad. You want me to try and save him“.

“That’s why you are our Luna Queen. Smart and caring. The true mother to all of us. Marking him will prevent further attacks, and the shadows will leave“.
