I wake up a few hours later feeling light as a feather. My knot has gone down, and my girl is sleeping well. I know I have things I have to organise, and I can do a few hours‘ work before tonight, so I decide to go downstairs.

As soon as I do, I find Valerie pacing the hallways frantically while scrolling on her tablet.

“Valerie. What’s going on?“.

She looks relieved when she sees me, but is being coy about it. “Alpha King. I’m so glad you’re up. I’m assuming Luna Queen is… resting“.

Wow, we really were not quite. Between all the growling and roars, everyone in the packhouse probably heard something. I have to keep her on track with what she is clearly panicking about.

“Luna Queen is resting. What are you panicking about, Valerie?“.

I can see the conflict written all over her face. “Well….. I’m not sure if it is good news or bad news“.

I just stare at her and wait for her to continue.

“Well, the media reports are all over the internet about Malik. It’s even gone international with agencies worldwide looking for him as Nightstalker, who can link him with offshore accounts and fake international business. Basically, getting investment from people in one country by saying he is building in another, so they can’t see it“.

I just raise an eyebrow at her before she blurts it out.

“It’s secret werewolf pages that are going into a frenzy“.

My stomach drops. “What? What’s happening?“.

“Well, I have put the real story about Malik on the pages and stated he is a false King. It is giving us some good data, and the packs that are openly opposing him and being cleared, and we are checking the ones that are being silent. But someone at the Moonfang pack had security cameras that were recording, and they have loaded the footage to the page. Most likely the Beta or someone else higher up. They all know the damage she did to the pack and how easily she did it. They all know she has imprisoned the Alpha for trying to assassinate you, and… they know she has the Lycan power“.

That’s when everything clicked. Why she didn’t kill the Alpha. Why she brought soldiers to monitor the pack and make sure they watched. Why she left them there with us watching the border only to make sure they stayed within it. She was performing. She wanted to send a message about what she can do and her true power, so they don’t come after me again. Serena wanted her Lycan ability to come out.

As soon as the penny dropped, I burst out laughing. Valerie just stared at me, confused.

“Valerie. Don’t you see? This was Luna Queen’s plan. She wants everyone to know she is the true power, so they come to us“.

She lets out a sigh of relief, but I can still feel the nervous energy coming off her. “What do you want me to do now, Alpha King?“.

‘Continue monitoring the chatter and see if any packs come forward who were on Malik’s side but want to swap. Drop some hints in the comments about the war coming, that you hope everyone is on the right side, and how we are merciful to past mistakes”.

As soon as I spen the dont, I see Mary and give her a hug. She starts making me food, and Liam eventually comes in wanting to pat as well. Arthur also joins us, and we start discussing the pack business,

After about an hour, the door slowly creaks open, and in walks my girl. Her demeanor has completely changed, and she is shamefully walking to the fridge. Definitely Lewana,

I smile at the memory from only hours ago, making her drop her head and walk even faster.

She grabs a steak out of the fridge and starts biting into it raw,

Jace starts purring and nuzzling her. Serena starts, but Lewana makes her stop. She mumbles to herself, but I know it is Serena she is talking to.

“No. I’m still mad at you“.

I just smile. “What is she saying back?“.

She frowns. “Nothing I’m saying here“.
