Chapter 338 Hurt (18+)
LUNA
“It will heal overnight,” Abel said from where he sat. “It won’t even leave a scar.”
“Even if,” I muttered, before rummaging through my bag again. “It must hurt.”
“It does not hurt.”

I looked up at him, frowning. “Just because it doesn’t hurt doesn’t mean it’s not there,” I said quietly. “You just got used to the pain.”
“However, even if it’s not painful, you should still heal it.”
He finally stopped arguing. Meanwhile, I brought out a small first aid kit from my bag. When he saw the small bag in my hands, his brows lifted slightly.
“Is that Mary Poppins’ bag or something? Why’d you have so many things hidden in it?”
I huffed. “It’s called being prepared.” My fingers finally opened the makeshift first-aid kit and pulled out the thin bandaid triumphantly. “There we go.”
He leaned back slightly in the chair. “You’re really going to patch me up with that?”
“Yes,” I said firmly. “Now stay still.”
He frowned but didn’t argue. That was already a miracle.
I stepped closer, holding the kit under my arm as I examined the shallow cut over his brow. It was small, but the blood had dried in streaks down his temple. I bent a little, trying to catch the faint moonlight filtering through the cracked window. However, it quickly became clear that it wasn’t enough.
“Why is there no light here?” I murmured.
“It looks abandoned,” he said, glancing around. “There’s not going to be light.”
I sighed and crouched closer. His skin was warm, flushed from the run and the shift.
I leaned closer, squinting at the wound, and before I realized it, my knees brushed his. The space between us disappeared.
“What are you doing?” he exclaimed.

“Stay still,” I said quickly.
“You’re sitting on me.”
“I said stay still.”

The disinfectant touched his skin and he hissed quietly. My breath hitched at how close his face was to mine now.
“Does it sting?” I asked softly, lowering my voice without realizing.
He didn’t answer right away. His gaze dropped from my eyes to my lips, then back up again. “No,” he said finally. “You just… surprised me.”
“Oh.” I tried to sound casual.
His scent filled the air between us. My hand trembled slightly as I dabbed at the cut again. I tried to focus on the wound and not the heat radiating from his bare skin.
When I was done cleaning it, I leaned back slightly, still perched on his lap because moving suddenly felt complicated. I reached for the small salve jar and unscrewed it. “Hold still,” I whispered again.
He tilted his head obediently. For once, Abel actually listened.
As I applied the balm, my fingers brushed his temple. With the salve applied on the wound, I finally placed the bandaid on top of it.
The bright color of the cartoon bandaid stood out against his face, completely out of place on someone like him.
I smiled. “There,” I said softly. “All better.”
He stared at me for a long moment. Then suddenly, my body felt hotter than before. Right, I was still sitting on top of him.
It was as though the room suddenly became smaller. I could hear my own heartbeat, feel the warmth rising from where his knees touched my thigh.
My smile faltered. I should’ve looked away and moved back.
But I didn’t.
Something deep inside me stirred-a heat that had nothing to do with my embarrassment or the closed cabin air. It was strange and dizzying.

He was still looking at me.
My breath caught.

Why did it feel like this?
Why did his silence make my heart race?
Just then, I felt something hard against my abdomen. My breath hitched, and I fought the urge to look down. However, in the end, my instincts won and I did.
I bit my lip, feeling myself lose control like I always did when I was with him-except this time, I felt even more courageous because of the heat flowing through my body. Was it adrenaline? Most probably. However, all I was certain about was that it was dangerous.
“Do you want me to help you?”
I heard his breath hitch, and I internally felt proud. It was difficult to elicit this kind of reaction from him.
“Do you even realize what you’re asking right now?” he muttered.
I bit my lip. “It looks like it hurts.”
He closed his eyes and let out a sound that resembled disbelief. “Are you really this innocent?”
“What?” I asked, looking straight into his eyes.
His eyes flashed from dark to gold, back and forth, appearing like he was fighting with his wolf. “Luna, I’m giving you a chance,” he started off. “Get off my lap right now.”
I bit my lip and felt the heat surge through my body again. I didn’t move an inch.
