Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 111

Though the old lady was seething, there was nothing she could do about Beasley.

Ever since he was a child, Beasley had always been stubborn and independent. Whatever bit of filial affection he had was reserved solely for Dorothy—his own mother.

As for the rest of them, he barely bothered to put up a polite front.

There was a time when the old lady could still assert her authority in front of Willow, playing the proud matriarch. But now, Willow wouldn't even pick up her calls. She'd always believed women from modest backgrounds were never fit for the spotlight.

Dorothy, on the other hand, came from an old, distinguished family herself. So why had she ever approved of someone as unimpressive and ordinary as Willow?

It was a question the old lady had never been able to understand.

If she assumed Dorothy simply loved her daughter, that didn't explain why, no matter how much she pleaded or pressured, Dorothy refused to have another child.

Unable to make sense of it, the old lady simply stopped thinking about it. In any case, Willow wouldn't be part of the Windsor family for much longer.

"Once you've gotten the results from the checkup, you must let me know right away," she finally told Beasley, with all the authority she could muster.

Beasley's expression remained unreadable as ever. It was impossible to tell if he agreed or not, or whether he was pleased or annoyed.

"Grandmother, did you call me back just for this?" he asked.

She sniffed. "That was just a side note. The real reason I wanted you here was to discuss how you should celebrate your twenty-eighth birthday."

"I don't celebrate birthdays," Beasley replied flatly.

She frowned. "You haven't celebrated your birthday for years. You ignore your parents' anniversary, too. Are you all trying to drive me to an early grave?"

In families like the Windsors—at their level—certain dates simply couldn't be wasted. They were perfect opportunities for building connections and strengthening social ties.

"Grandmother, next August 9th is your and Grandfather's fiftieth wedding anniversary. I promise I'll throw you both an unforgettable Golden Anniversary Gala," Beasley said.

She sighed. "Your grandfather and I are getting old. What really matters is you young people."

She'd said her piece and made her reminders. Now that Beasley was leaving, she couldn't find a reason to make him stay.

As for Rosamund, she was still the old lady's top choice for a granddaughter-in-law. She'd wait until Evelyn came home later and ask her for the full story.

Beasley did have a meeting today, though it wasn't at lunch—it was in the evening.

That morning, after leaving Windsor Manor, he drove straight to York's new house.

York had finally bought a place at the start of last month. He'd hired a team to remodel and decorate everything to his own tastes, and today was the official move-in.

Beasley brought along a bottle of vintage wine as a housewarming gift—a little early celebration for York's new home.

He realized it had been a while since he and York had last met. York had been busy with his new company and a film project, while Beasley himself had been tied up with two major projects of his own.
