Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 121

She couldn't understand why Beasley was willing to let Dorothy and Vincent in on their divorce, yet kept it from Mrs. Windsor, Evelyn, and the other family insiders.

If she'd known things would play out this way, she would've made sure everyone in the know was included in her original conditions. That was a misstep.

All Willow could hope for now was that the old lady wouldn't go off the rails. If her own family ended up getting dragged into the mess, she wouldn't hesitate to break the confidentiality agreement.

At two o'clock the next afternoon, Beasley's phone rang with an unknown number.

He was on his way to the airport—Terence was driving, and his assistant Xander sat beside him.

He had a hunch about who it might be, so he pressed accept.

A young woman's voice came through the line. "Mr. Windsor? Willow said you wanted to speak with me?"

Beasley was taken aback for a moment—a woman?

He'd always assumed the person operating that miniature drone had to be a man.

But his voice was steady and cool as he replied, "Yes. May I ask your name?"

"No need for names," she said briskly. "What do you want with me?"

Direct and to the point. He liked that.

Beasley wasted no time. "I've seen the footage you captured with the micro drone—your angles and control are impressive. I'd like to invite you to join Windsor & Co.'s Stormhawk Drones R&D project. Would you be interested?"

Xander, sitting beside him, snapped his head up from the itinerary, eyes wide with surprise.

What was going on? Did President Windsor have another candidate? Weren't they on their way to Shelbourne City to recruit someone?

Xander held his breath, listening intently.

Typical. Another one of Willow's friends—just as fond of abruptly hanging up with no warning.

He silently lowered his phone.

Xander glanced over, cautious. "President Windsor, who was that?"

Beasley rubbed his temples. "No one important."

He clearly didn't want to discuss it.

Xander wisely dropped the subject.

Beasley leaned back and closed his eyes, feigning sleep. He had never intended to pin all his hopes on Willow. If he could use her to track down the right talent for his R&D team, perfect. But if not, he had other options.

He could only hope the supposed top-tier recruit waiting in Shelbourne City would meet his standards.
