Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 122

Meanwhile, at Cliffhaven Gardens.

Willow took off the voice changer, shut down the software, and then stretched out on the beanbag chair, letting out a long, satisfied sigh.

With any luck, Beasley and his infuriating antics should finally be put to rest for now.

He'd been hounding her non-stop, forcing her to be constantly on guard every time she left home, turning even simple information gathering into a chore. If it weren't for her sharp driving skills—and the anti-tracking device she'd rigged up in her car—dealing with someone as sly and vicious as Beasley would be an absolute nightmare.

Now sprawled lazily across the beanbag, Willow's mind was anything but idle.

Since Beasley was finally off her trail, it was time to turn her attention to Zoe.

Over the past few weeks, Willow had pieced together a decent profile on Zoe from the scattered intel she'd collected. If, in her previous life, Zoe had slandered her father because someone had put her up to it, then odds were that someone was Beasley. That gave Willow a solid new lead to follow.

Around three in the afternoon, Willow changed her clothes and got ready to head out.

It was Saturday. She knew Zoe didn't have classes today, and that Zoe, ever the diligent student, would be working her part-time job to help cover tuition.

Willow made her way to the same bistro where she'd once dined with her father.

That was where Zoe worked.

Sure enough, when her food arrived, it was Zoe who brought it to the table.

Zoe's face lit up with surprise and delight. "Willow, you remember me?"

Willow put on a perfect look of startled confusion. "You're… one of my dad's students, right?"

Zoe beamed. "Yes! My name's Zoe!"

Willow feigned curiosity. "Do you work here all the time?"

As Zoe set down the last plate, she replied with a cheerful smile, "Yeah, I don't have classes on weekends this semester, so I picked up this job to help pay for school."

Willow's eyes widened in mock astonishment. "You pay your own tuition? Didn't your family help out?"

"What time do you finish work today?" Willow asked.

"I'm on the afternoon shift, so I get off at four-thirty," Zoe replied.

Willow's eyes sparkled. "Four-thirty? That's soon, isn't it?"

She added, "Have you eaten yet? If not, maybe we could grab something together after your shift—if you don't mind?"

Zoe nodded. "That sounds great! My treat for drinks afterward."

They sealed their plan, and Zoe headed off to wrap up her shift.

How did the timing work out so perfectly?

Naturally, Willow had calculated everything down to the minute.

If Zoe really did have an agenda with her father, she'd jump at any chance to get close to Willow. And just as expected, the bait had been taken.
