Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 133

"I suppose President Windsor will step up and clear things up, right? He'll explain whatever's going on between him and that woman," Yvonne said, her voice full of youthful certainty.

Janet shot her a sidelong glance, amused by how naive the girl was. She was about to offer a few words of advice when Rosamund's phone started ringing.

She glanced at the screen—York.

A flicker of delight crossed her face.

She motioned for Janet and Yvonne to wait outside the van, then answered, lowering her voice, "Hello, York?"

On the other end, York sounded tentative. "Rosa, you've seen that video online, haven't you?"

Rosamund paused, letting a few seconds slip by before replying softly, "Yeah, I've seen it. Why?"

She deliberately left her response hanging, feigning indifference, hoping York would spill everything he knew without her having to ask.

Sure enough, York's voice edged into panic. "Don't believe it!"

Rosamund kept up her brave front. "Even if it's true, it's not surprising. After all, they are—" She stopped herself before finishing the sentence. After all, they are husband and wife. But she left the words unsaid, conscious that her assistant and manager were just outside the van.

The van's soundproofing was decent, but there was no reason to risk it.

York jumped in, desperate to reassure her. "No way! Rosa, you have to trust me—if Willow really is pregnant, there's no chance the baby is Beasley's!"

Only now did Rosamund let a trace of sadness slip into her voice. "You don't have to comfort me. I've been preparing myself for this for a long time."

York grew more agitated. "I swear, I saw Willow check into a hotel with another man—really!"

In truth, he'd only seen Willow enter a hotel alone. But, recalling how he'd spotted her dining out and shopping for cars with various men, he convinced himself she must be cheating on Beasley.

She had never once considered Willow a threat—not in her past life, not in this one.

York, flustered, sounded desperate to explain himself. "No, that's not it. Beasley's only staying because Dorothy is fighting the divorce tooth and nail!"

"But if Willow's really cheating—and pregnant with someone else's child—if Laverne finds out, I'm sure Beasley will finally divorce her!"

"York, I think we should stay out of all this," Rosamund said, voice weary. "I just want to focus on my work. I can't keep getting my hopes up, only to have them crushed over and over again. I can't take that kind of disappointment anymore."

York didn't agree. He just said, "Rosa, trust me."

Then the line went dead.

Rosamund stared at her phone for a moment, a cold, mocking smile curling at her lips.
