"There are two leading ladies caught up in this scandal," Lionel said, a sly, knowing smile playing at his lips. "Funny thing is, both of them have some connection to us."
"Wait, connected to us?" Juliette looked even more stunned. "And there are two of them?"
Wasn't Beasley supposed to be the one guy in high society who stayed out of all those messy love affairs? How was it possible that he was rumored to be involved with not one, but two women?
She suddenly wondered if Willow was okay.
Her mind flashed back to that international call she'd made to Willow ten days ago. She'd asked if Willow's baby plans had worked out, and what had Willow said back then?
Something like, "I'll tell you all about it when you're back."
A sinking feeling hit Juliette. Was that really what Willow had meant to tell her? Was she about to find out that her friend's husband was caught up in some cheating scandal?
Lionel caught the worry on Juliette's face and raised an eyebrow. "What's up with you? I haven't even said who it is yet and you're already freaking out."
He leaned in, teasing, "Or... do you already know?"
He almost reached out to smooth the little furrow between her brows, but remembered her earlier "don't cross the line" warning and pulled his hand back.
Juliette's frown only deepened. "Know what?"
"Come on, don't look so stressed," Lionel said, shaking his head. "It's just your friend. She's pretty impressive, honestly. And the whole ‘putting the cart before the horse' thing isn't such a big deal these days. No need to look like the world's ending."
"My friend?" Juliette was suddenly overloaded with information, her thoughts spinning. "You mean Willa?"
Lionel nodded, as if it were obvious. "Who else would I mean?"
Lionel didn't keep her guessing. He grinned, looking insufferably pleased with himself. "The other one is my future girlfriend's sister—Rosamund."
"Your future girlfriend? Please." Juliette had to fight the urge to smack that smug smile off his face.
But Rosamund...
"I know her. Didn't she win some international award last year? She's a decent actress. Is she back in the country now?" Juliette had only been gone for three months, but it suddenly felt like she'd missed three years' worth of gossip.
"Exactly!" Lionel nodded enthusiastically. "My future girlfriend's big sister is now an award-winning actress. She came back and took the lead in a movie produced by York and Beasley—it's based on your idol STAR's second sci-fi novel, *Sudden Dawn*. It's basically a dream team."
"Wait, what?!" Juliette's jaw dropped again.
