Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 165

After leaving the Chronos Art Museum at half past ten that morning, the two of them headed to the local grocery store near Juliette's apartment.

Willow had promised Juliette that, once she came back to the States, she'd cook her a real feast. Today was finally the day to make good on that promise.

They spent a good half hour weaving through the aisles, pushing a cart that grew steadily heavier with their finds. By the time they returned to Juliette's place, their arms were full of ingredients and their spirits high.

Juliette tried to help out in the kitchen, but the truth was, "helping" was about all she could do—she'd never learned to cook anything more complicated than instant noodles. After a few minutes of Juliette's clumsy attempts, Willow gently but firmly nudged her out.

With nothing to do, Juliette leaned in the doorway, cradling a mug between her hands. She watched Willow move around the kitchen with easy confidence, the way she chopped, stirred, and tasted, all while keeping up a cheerful conversation.

Willow had mentioned on the phone last week that she had some good news to share, but she hadn't given any details. Juliette had been secretly worried it might have something to do with Beasley, and she hadn't dared to ask.

It wasn't until they sat down to eat that Willow finally brought it up herself.

"Oh, Lettie, remember I said I had good news for you last time we talked?" Willow had gone all out, preparing five dishes and a hearty soup—the table was practically groaning under the weight.

Juliette had just ladled soup into two bowls. Her eyes lit up at Willow's words. "What's the good news? I've been dying to know—tell me!"

Willow accepted the bowl from her, smiling. "You remember how we used to daydream about who would play the leads if my novel ever got turned into a show?"

Juliette's eyes sparkled. "Wait—it's that? I saw the casting list online two days ago! They picked the exact actors we used to talk about!"

It was a genuine surprise—Juliette adored the actors they'd chosen back when it was all just a fantasy between friends.

Willow's grin widened as she added, "And get this—the director actually called my editor and asked if I'd be willing to write the script."

Juliette nearly dropped her spoon. "Are you serious? Did you say yes?"

Juliette got to her feet. "Probably a package—I'll check."

Willow knew Juliette was a frequent online shopper, so she didn't think much of it.

But when Juliette opened the door, she froze.

"You've got to come try on this dress—I picked it out for—" The man standing in the hallway held up an ivory evening gown, breezing right in. But the moment he spotted Willow at the dining table, his words cut off mid-sentence.

"You have company?" He turned, only now noticing Juliette still rooted to the spot by the door.

"It's Willa—you know her," Juliette snapped out of her daze, shut the door a little harder than necessary, and stalked back inside.
