Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 182

"That's right, you never told me anything—I just guessed, is all."

Juliette gave Willow a knowing, slightly goofy grin, and in her heart, she was deeply impressed by Willow's decisiveness and courage.

After all, walking away from someone you've loved for years—even when they're clearly in the wrong—isn't something most people can do so cleanly. For many, it's not just about lingering attachment. Some can't let go because they're afraid of what comes next; others hold on out of resentment or simply because they can't stand to lose. Everyone has their own tangled reasons, their own threads they can't quite cut.

Juliette didn't claim to know what the "right" choice was for everyone, but one thing she was absolutely sure of: as long as it was Willow's choice, it was the right one. No debate allowed.

Why? Simple. Willow was her idol—her own Ms. STAR. Whatever Ms. STAR decided, Juliette would support her without question.

Grand Ballroom, The Regent Hotel, Northcrest

It was just past eight in the evening. The charity ball had wrapped up, and now the main event of the night was about to begin—the charity auction.

Evelyn sat front and center in the first row, paddle in hand, her earlier frustration with Lionel entirely forgotten. She was in high spirits, waiting eagerly for the item she'd had her eye on to come up for bidding.

On her left and right sat her boyfriend, Major, and Cordelia.

Cordelia wasn't really interested in the auction, but she stayed because York hadn't left yet; he and Melinda were sitting on Major's side of the row.

The auction kicked off after the emcee's rousing opening speech.

The first item under the hammer was an art collectible, starting at a hundred thousand dollars.

Lionel, dressed in a sharply tailored tuxedo, sat with perfect poise in the central seat of the last row. The spotlight caught him, highlighting his strikingly handsome features. Instantly, he drew curious stares—some intrigued, others with the unmistakable look of someone hoping to introduce themselves after the event.

The Scott family kept a low profile in Kingston City, and Lionel rarely showed up at these society gatherings. So, most people here had never actually seen the young heir to the city's hotel empire.

Evelyn frowned, her expression darkening. She immediately raised her paddle. "Two-point-one million!"

Lionel didn't miss a beat. With calm elegance, he lifted his own paddle. "Two-point-five million."

Gasps echoed around the hall. Major, sitting next to Evelyn, felt a jolt of anxiety—this was a trap, plain as day, but it was already too late to stop her.

Evelyn, undeterred, shot her hand up faster than anyone could react and called out, "Two-point-eight million!"
