Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 188

Juliette's expression slid easily back to normal. She shrugged. "Willa's my best friend. If I can't tell her, who can I tell? Don't worry, though—Willa won't breathe a word of it. No one else will ever hear about your embarrassing past."

Lionel frowned, silent. So, in the end, the one she trusts most is still Willa.

She even told her that.

There's nothing those two keep from each other.

He felt a little jealous, though he couldn't say exactly why.

Maybe it was just male pride acting up—uncomfortable with the idea that Juliette would rather confide in another woman than in him. Did it bother him that, in her eyes, he lost out to a woman?

Lost in his own thoughts, Lionel didn't reply right away.

Willow, noticing his expression, spoke up softly. "Because I'm a woman, and Lettie really cares about you. That's why she came to me—she wanted to make sure you'd get what you wanted, that things would work out for you."

Lionel's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Suddenly, he realized something interesting.

A minute ago, Willow had said, "If Juliette ever gets a boyfriend…" But Juliette doesn't even like men—she'd never date a guy!

So Willow doesn't know about that?

Which means… there are still some secrets between them, after all.

His mood lifted.

Juliette said, "If you mind that I told Willa about you, I apologize."

Lionel waved it off, magnanimous. "It's fine. You're right. You're both girls—your advice is invaluable."

Juliette grinned, explaining, "He's obsessed with pandas. Even my last birthday gift from him was just a pile of panda plushies."

Willow suddenly remembered the panda dolls she'd seen in Juliette's room back in middle school—so those had been from Lionel?

"Pandas are adorable," Lionel said, feeling like he'd found some common ground with the usually aloof Miss Sheffield. Then, turning to Juliette, he complained, "She's never really cared, though. All those cute panda toys I gave her, completely wasted."

Willow replied, "I don't have a thing for pandas, really. I just like Chubby—she's the superstar of the panda world. I admire the best."

Lionel fell silent. Beasley was the superstar of the business world—no wonder Willow liked him.

Juliette caught Lionel's mildly wounded expression and had to stifle a laugh. Honestly, Willow had never mentioned liking pandas, and Juliette herself was just as Lionel described—indifferent to the plushies, neither loving nor hating them.

Truth be told, she couldn't even tell which panda was in Willow's profile photo, or even recognize Chubby if she saw her face-on—let alone from behind.
