Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 198

"Do you think he'll keep bothering you?" Juliette asked, cradling her mug in both hands.

"It's hard to say." Willow gave Juliette a gentle warning. "Now that he knows I'm STAR, and I'm holding onto the adaptation rights for my latest novel instead of selling them to him, I doubt he'll give up that easily."

Juliette's face twisted in annoyance. "Of course you shouldn't sell to him! Did you see what he did with your last book? He actually funded a movie for his mistress—disgusting!"

Willow nodded in agreement. "That's exactly why I can't let them get their hands on my work again."

At last, Juliette understood Willow's odd reaction when she'd run into Beasley earlier; the whole situation finally made sense.

She went off on another tirade about Beasley, ranting until she'd drained the last drop from her glass of water.

"Oh, by the way, Willa, you still haven't told me—who brought you here earlier?"

Now that her anger had subsided, Juliette remembered the question.

"It was Dr. Lockwood," Willow replied. "You know, the one we bumped into yesterday outside the movie theater."

Juliette's eyes lit up. "Him? Willa, don't you think that's fate?"

Willow shook her head. "It was just a coincidence, nothing more."

Juliette could guess what she was thinking, so she grinned and said, "Don't worry, I'm done playing matchmaker."

"But," she added with a sly, knowing smile, "when fate really wants to happen, there's no stopping it. So I'm not worried."

Juliette's only real concern was that Willow might get stuck in the mire of her previous marriage. But now that Willow had let Beasley go—and actually seemed repulsed by him—Juliette could finally relax.

Thankfully, he wasn't.

She packed her things in a flash and left as quickly as she could.

Earlier that afternoon, Beasley had actually considered going home to Cliffhaven Gardens from the hospital. But an emergency with the Stormhawk Drones project forced him to detour to the office.

By the time he finally resolved the issue and got back home, Willow was long gone.

After ten that night, Beasley stood outside Willow's door for a long moment, making sure the place was empty before finally turning to unlock the door to his own flat across the hall.

He'd spend the night here and see if he could catch Willow tomorrow.
