Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 204

“As soon as Dr. Percival Payne cures my brother’s leg, I’ll hand the company back to him in perfect shape. Until then, I promise I’ll give it everything I have.”

York had returned to The Sinclair Group these past few weeks to learn the ropes, and only now did he truly appreciate the hard work his grandfather had poured into the company—and just how much his brother had endured.

“So you’ve finally come around,” Beasley said, a note of relief in his voice as he watched York set aside his old ways and face reality at last. He was glad for Patriarch Sinclair as well.

York nodded, his eyes unusually serious. “Things inside the group aren’t nearly as harmonious as I’d imagined. Without a strong heir at the helm, some of the old sharks are getting restless. They’re just waiting for the day my grandfather can’t hold the reins anymore, so they can tear the company apart and take what they want.”

“That’s only natural,” Beasley replied. “It’s the turmoil inside and out that gives those old foxes their chance to make a move and rewrite the rules.”

For once, the usual carefree glimmer in York’s eyes was gone. “I won’t let them get away with it.”

“If you want to stabilize things quickly, you’ll have to take some decisive action,” Beasley advised, getting to the heart of the matter.

“Like what?” York asked, eager to absorb whatever management strategies and hard-won experience Beasley could offer; right now, he needed all the guidance he could get.

His grandfather was teaching him as well, but many of the old man’s methods were a tough fit for the present day. The Sinclair Group needed new blood, a fresh approach, if it was going to thrive.

Beasley didn’t hold back on his advice, and the two of them discussed the topic for a good half hour—York soaking up every word.

“Talking with you is worth more than a decade of business school,” York said with a laugh at the end, genuinely impressed.

Beasley had taken over Windsor & Co. straight out of college and turned it into a powerhouse; in their circle, no one dared question his ability.

Could it be, as Evelyn implied, that there really was something between Lionel and Willow…?

York shrugged. “You’re the one asking, so don’t get upset—and promise you won’t lecture me about this again.”

Beasley had warned him more than once not to get involved in Willow’s affairs, but this time, Beasley had brought it up himself.

“Stop stalling. Out with it,” Beasley said.

So York gave him a straightforward account of what had happened that night.

In the end, he summed it up: “Lionel really does stick up for your ex-wife. When Eve got into it with Willow, Lionel didn’t hesitate to take Willow’s side—even if it meant turning on Eve in front of everyone. And at the charity auction later, Lionel made sure it cost Eve dearly; she ended up paying three times the price for the birthday gift she wanted for her grandmother, just because Lionel wouldn’t let it go.”
