Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 223

Willow knew Connor wasn’t just making empty threats—he’d definitely try to pull some strings and wriggle out of this mess. If Ryan found out, knowing his personality, there was no way he’d just stand by and watch.

The officer who’d questioned her earlier had acted very differently after stepping out for a bit. When he came back, he announced that the deleted security footage had been recovered. Combined with Lucy’s testimony, it proved that Willow’s use of pepper spray was self-defense.

That was all the confirmation Willow needed—her suspicions had been right.

Now, there was no need to hand over the backup video on her own phone. That was a relief; it spared her from punishment. After all, she’d hacked into the store’s security system—even if it was to prove her innocence, it was still illegal. If she’d turned over her backup, she’d be looking at a fine or even a few nights in a holding cell.

Willow stepped out of the interview room and immediately spotted Lucy waiting in the reception area.

“You’re still here?” Willow walked over.

Lucy jumped to her feet and shook her head. “I was waiting for you. Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” Willow assured her with a small smile. “But I can’t leave yet. I have to file a report against Connor for threats and defamation. You should go home—I’d appreciate it if you could set aside those two outfits I picked out earlier. I’ll come by to get them once this is all sorted.”

She’d barely finished speaking when she saw Connor being escorted inside.

Leading the way was Ryan—tall, broad-shouldered, and every bit the tough cop he looked to be.

Connor spotted Willow and instantly remembered that all his humiliation today was thanks to her. His eyes blazed with anger, and whatever warnings his mother had whispered to him before he came were now completely forgotten.

He tried to wrench free and lunge toward Willow, spitting out, “You bitch!”

But before Connor could take a second step, Ryan grabbed his wrist in a vice-like grip.

Ryan’s gaze shifted to Willow as well—though his look was more assessing than hostile.

“Officer, I want to report him for threats, intimidation, and slander,” Willow said clearly, meeting Ryan’s sharp blue eyes. “The security footage from the boutique has been recovered. That video is all the evidence you’ll need.”

Connor’s temper flared again. “You ought to be grateful I’m not pressing charges for assault, and now you want to accuse me?” he spat.

He’d always relied on his family’s wealth and the fact that his uncle ran the police station—even if it was just a local precinct, it was enough to let him swagger around and throw his weight against anyone who didn’t have connections. Most of his victims were ordinary people—naive girls, or women looking for a quick payday.

He’d gotten away with it for years, never once running into real trouble. Until today—until he met Willow, this stubborn woman who just wouldn’t play along.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He knew Willow had feelings for Beasley, so to twist the knife, he sneered, “Do you know why Beasley wants nothing to do with you?”
