Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 237

“Don’t you remember him too?” Willow said with a casual smile, as if there was nothing impressive about it at all.

“I only remembered because I ran into him yesterday, okay?” Juliette’s easy grin returned, sweeping away the lingering cloud Lionel had cast over her mood.

Willow followed Juliette’s lead and chatted a bit more before heading out to her own car.

The two of them drove separately to a specialty outdoor gear store downtown, ready to pick up essentials for their upcoming hike—weatherproof jackets, sturdy hiking boots, trekking poles, walkie-talkies, and other must-haves.

That evening, when Willow got back to Cliffhaven Gardens, she found a message from Ian waiting on her phone: a neatly typed list of hiking safety tips.

She forwarded it straight to Juliette, adding: “A friendly reminder from Dr. Lockwood.”

Juliette replied with a heart emoji.

The next morning, at exactly 8:45, eight people—including Willow and Juliette—gathered at the trailhead as planned.

Ian hadn’t been exaggerating: out of the eight, including Willow and Juliette, there were only three women; the other five were men.

Apart from Willow, Juliette only recognized Ian—the rest were complete strangers to her.

Willow had it a bit easier; she knew two of the five men. Waller, of course, was a given. But the real surprise was seeing Ryan again.

It was unexpectedly soon for their paths to cross, and Willow was caught off guard.

Ryan felt the same. He hadn’t expected his cousin’s casual invitation to go hiking would lead to seeing Willow so soon.

The remaining three were colleagues from Ian’s hospital: a young married couple, both doctors, and a man in his thirties named Dr. Shaw.

Dr. Shaw, the man in his thirties, seemed particularly interested in Juliette and was seizing every opportunity to strike up a conversation.

So it went: Ian and the young couple at the front, Juliette and Dr. Shaw in the middle, and Willow, Ryan, and Waller bringing up the rear.

Ryan had known Waller since they were kids and was well aware of his taciturn nature, so he found it odd that the usually reserved Waller would show up for a group hike—and even more curious that he would quietly keep watch behind Willow, as if guarding her.

No one had explained, during introductions, how Willow knew Ian or Waller.

Ryan’s curiosity was piqued, and he made a silent promise to himself: as soon as he found the right moment, he’d get to the bottom of it.

And as for finding a conversation starter? He had plenty. Connor’s latest escapades in lockup would make the perfect opening.
