Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 279

He wondered if he’d ever get the chance to taste her cooking again.

Beasley thought back to how heartless he’d been in the past. For those three years after their wedding, he’d refused to eat a single meal she made—couldn’t even bring himself to spare her a second glance.

Back then, he’d assumed Willow was just trying to win him over with that old trick, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” So he never gave her the slightest chance.

Now, alone in the dark, Beasley was left to savor the bitter taste of regret, and kept watching the security footage.

A moment later, his cold blue eyes narrowed.

In the playback, he spotted other figures appearing in the background.

He recognized them immediately—Connor’s mother, Vivian, trailed by two men carrying armfuls of gifts.

Beasley, chilled to the bone, kept watching until the end. When the footage finished, he dialed a number with a frosty expression.

He’d warned the Mitchells the day he called off their partnership: never show up around Willow again.

Did they think he was bluffing?

Well, he didn’t owe them any favors.

He’d already been tormented by guilt for misunderstanding Willow, desperate to make amends but at a total loss. Now the Mitchells had the nerve to walk right into his crosshairs.

If they didn’t suffer the consequences, who would?

Close to ten that evening, Willow’s phone finally lit up with a call from Juliette.

“Willa, are you free to come with me to Lionel’s cousin’s birthday party this Friday?”

Willow could tell from her tone—something was brewing between those two.

But she had no desire to play the awkward third wheel.

She laughed, “I’ll pass on this little get-together.”

“That’s what I thought! So Willa, please come with me? That way, when Lionel introduces me to his relatives, it’ll be a lot less awkward.”

Willow considered for a moment. If that was the reason, she could go with Lettie.

“Alright, I’ll go with you.”

“That’s amazing, Willa! Love you so much!”

Willow couldn’t help but tease, “You might want to tone down the mushiness around me, or I’m afraid Mr. Scott’s going to get jealous for no reason.”

Juliette snorted. “Don’t get me started. I’ll never let him live this down!”

Willow couldn’t see Juliette’s expression, but she could hear the happiness in her voice.

Clearly, after finally sharing her true feelings with the one she loved, even her jokes were tinged with joy.

Willow was sincerely happy for her friend.
