Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 307

York silently traced the rim of his wine glass, lost in thought.

The more he mulled it over, the more it all seemed too convenient. But who would go to such lengths to frame Willow? And if it was a setup, wasn’t Willow herself the ultimate beneficiary?

Because of the drugging incident, she’d managed to marry Beasley, becoming the lady of the Windsor family. Even if their marriage was kept under wraps, she’d still gotten what she wanted, hadn’t she? “But what would be the point of someone drugging you all just to help Willow get what she wanted?” York finally voiced the question gnawing at him.

Beasley’s brow tightened, his gaze sharpening as he stared York down. “Help her get what she wanted? In that whole mess, she was the real victim.”

York realized he’d crossed a line. If Willow truly hadn’t orchestrated the incident, then she was, in fact, innocent.

Yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that Willow hadn’t lost much in the end.

“Sorry, I take that back.” York didn’t want to butt heads with Beasley right now. It was clear Beasley had thrown his full support behind Willow, and his judgment was bound to be clouded.

“But is it because you found out Willow is STAR that you suddenly changed your opinion of her?” York tried a different angle, hoping to snap Beasley out of it.

Beasley froze for a moment.

It was a question he’d asked himself, too.

That was part of it, but not the whole story.

What really started him second-guessing everything was Willow’s attitude after their divorce—her resolve and distance. She’d meant what she said about cutting all ties with him and the Windsor family.

He, on the other hand, had convinced himself Willow was playing hard to get. He’d thought she’d use his mother’s fondness for her as leverage to win him back.

But reality proved him wrong.

The realization hit York like a bolt of lightning.

“So she never tried to hide anything from you. You just never wanted to know?” York pieced it all together.

Beasley nodded slightly, his voice tinged with regret. “She really didn’t try to hide it. I was the one who saw her through a narrow lens from the beginning, assumed she was good for nothing and only cared about shortcuts. So I shut her out, ignored everything about her.”

Hearing Beasley now, York couldn’t help but sigh. “I have to say, it sounds like you’re in love with her.”

He’d resisted admitting it, but watching Beasley wallow in guilt and regret, York couldn’t lie to himself any longer.

As for Rosa, well—there was no hope left for her.
