Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 87

"Mr. Windsor certainly has a thick skin—just barges in uninvited, acts like he owns the place, and doesn't even have the decency to feel embarrassed!"

Willow couldn't hold back any longer. She glared at the man from across the room, her words sharp and biting.

But Beasley didn't get angry. In fact, the icy mask he wore every day seemed to melt just a little as a faint, knowing smile tugged at his lips. He took his time replying, his tone casual, "Why does that sound so familiar? Didn't I say something like that to someone once? You've always had a sharp memory—care to remind me?"

Willow's chest heaved in frustration, her breaths coming fast and shallow. This was karma for being a hopeless romantic back then—she had no one but herself to blame.

She forced her eyes shut, trying to calm the storm inside her. Even her breathing trembled with suppressed anger. "What exactly do you want? If you have something to say, spit it out and get lost."

Beasley, for his part, seemed perfectly at ease with her fiery temper now.

He settled comfortably onto the living room couch, looking utterly unbothered. His gaze flicked to Willow, who still stood stiffly at the edge of the hallway. With a half-smile, he said, "If you'd rather stand there and talk, be my guest."

He crossed his long legs, then got to the point. "I saw that video you released—the one shot with a micro-drone. The angle and audio were flawless. Most consumer drones can't get that close or pick up sound that clearly."

Willow's heart skipped a beat.

He'd figured it out so quickly? It must have been the audio—too crisp, too revealing. Most people wouldn't notice details like that, though; they'd just be distracted by the drama in the footage.

But Willow wasn't about to admit anything. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Don't tell me you haven't seen the video that cleared your name, or that you don't know who filmed it for you," Beasley replied, still calm but with a piercing look that seemed to see straight through her. "No need to waste either of our time with bad lies."

Willow remembered Beasley had business interests in military tech—drones and the like. In her previous life, he'd even landed a major defense contract. But after being rejected by him so many times, she'd grown numb, especially during those last two years before her fall. She'd thrown herself into her research, caring less and less about his affairs.

She never would've guessed that just because she refused to agree to a divorce, he'd hold that against her for so long…

If he'd asked her again in those final years, she wouldn't have hesitated to say yes.

But he never did. Instead, he kept his little darling hidden away, never letting their affair see the light of day. Even the tabloids praised him for being a model husband, focused solely on his empire.

She'd been fooled—thoroughly and completely. And she'd paid the price, body and soul.
