I pretended not to hear her suggestion, lowered my voice, and rasped, “Leslie, can you stop meeting Adler alone? You know I can’t stand it.”
She drew in a breath and answered coldly, “Kirby, remember what I said–whatever’s between us can’t be known by anyone else.”
A pang of loss hit me. I leaned closer, my voice laced with temptation. “What’s between us? That I’m your kept man? But I’m all title and no reality. Why not… make it real?”
Lance cackled in my head. Yes! Time for you to fulfill a kept man’s duties!
Leslie tilted her head toward me and let out a mocking laugh, then tapped the steering wheel and started the car.
“Where to?” I asked.
“Hotel,” she said flatly.
My heart jumped, eyes lighting on her.
Hotel? She’d finally relented?
But as I looked outside, the trees grew denser–she was driving toward the outskirts.
What kind of hotel was this?
I glanced at the fuel gauge and froze–empty.
Before I could speak, the car jolted to a stop.
I stared at her, confused, until she suddenly leaned over against my chest. My heart nearly stopped–then the seatbelt clicked free, the passenger door swung open, and cold wind rushed
What was she doing? My clarity snapped back.
Her chin lifted, voice sharp as the wind. “Get out.”
Her sudden turn caught me off guard. This woman’s mind was impossible to read.
I obeyed and stepped down, muttering, “If what I said offended you, I apologize.”

I had to take it slow–I couldn’t truly anger her.

She shut the door, lowered the window, and turned her face toward me. “The Apex project- was that your doing?”
My heart skipped. “No.”
Her laugh was cold; she rolled up the window, spun the wheel, and roared off, leaving dust in her wake.
I stood alone by the roadside, stunned.
She wasn’t really leaving me here all night, was she?
I rushed forward, blocking her car. “If I tell you the truth, will you let it go?”
She smiled then, eyes so indifferent it chilled me to the bone.
I realized instantly–damn it. Saying that was as good as admitting guilt.
My IQ had sunk to Lance’s level!
The car shot forward, forcing me back a step, and then she was gone.
I stood there, eyes narrowing, then let out a low chuckle.
Tch. Tripped by her hand again.
With the night wind cutting around me, I called Malach. “Pick me up.”
Adler’s POV
When Eren found out he’d have the “honor” of staying at Muse’s house while I traveled abroad, the boy was so excited he didn’t sleep a wink.
The little wolf pup was bouncing around the room, shoving clothes and toys into a giant suitcase like he meant to move his entire world.
How much did this brat hate living at home? My sandalwood pheromone filled the air, laced with weary fondness.
Flame chuckled in my head. Your son’s more smitten with the Rogue Pack princess than you are.
The nanny and bodyguards pitched in, visibly relieved. Were they truly that happy about going to Rogue Pack? Am I really that strict usually?
I crossed my arms, watching, then coughed to remind him, “While I’m away, you’d better

He waved me off, grinning wide. “Don’t worry, Daddy. I’ll take good care of Muse! No–Muse will definitely take good care of me!”
I couldn’t help smiling, though a faint pang tugged at me. My son’s affection for her outweighed mine?
If not for the fact I wanted him as a shield, to keep Kirby from getting close to Leslie, I wouldn’t be sending him.
With Eren by her side, he’d be a thorn in Kirby’s paw.
That Crimson Moon Alpha’s pheromone always wanted to cling to her. I wouldn’t let him succeed.
I teased, “Don’t bother Leslie too much. She has other suitors, you know. Kirby of Crimson Moon–he’s madly in love with her.”
Eren’s eyes bulged; he leapt off the bed, cheeks puffed and glaring. “Impossible! Muse is mine -mine alone! That old man can’t go near her. I won’t allow it!”
Seeing him bristle like a little wolf cub, I was satisfied.
Perfect. With my son guarding Leslie, I could focus on Eastern Continent pack affairs.
Flame approved. Smart move. The pup’s the perfect shield.
I turned to rest, leaving Eren barking orders to the staff as they packed.
He even called Muse himself, yelling that he’d come tomorrow without needing her to send anyone–he couldn’t wait to see her.
Hearing that eager, childish excitement, I thought: Son, don’t let me down. Don’t let Kirby steal an inch.
Gold Pack’s Alpha doesn’t lose easily.
