Chapter 373 The Little Guardian
Leslie’s POV
At dawn there was a stir at the front of the house.
I went downstairs to find Eren already standing in the living room with his backpack on, locking eyes with a still–groggy Carl.
Carl played with him for a while, rubbed his eyes, packed up, and left.
I watched Eren sit obediently on the floor playing with his toys and felt my heart soften.
He was an awfully lovable little wolf cub.

I set up his room, and as I was about to leave he tugged on my skirt and insisted on coming along.
This kid’s glued to you—maybe Adler planted a little spy, Asphodel hummed in my head.
I sighed; thinking he might be lonely at home, I took him to our West Territory headquarters.
Once inside the HQ the day swallowed me–files and meetings kept coming one after another.
Fortunately little Eren entertained himself with games like a tiny adult and caused no trouble.
At noon I took him to a nearby restaurant to change the scenery.
Who would’ve guessed Kirby would be sitting there.
He was on a couch in the lobby, a cigarette pinched between his fingers, black shirt unbuttoned at the collar so his Adam’s apple showed. His face carried that wry, indifferent look, and his mint pheromone made the people across from him cautious and whisper.
When he saw me he brightened for a moment, stubbed out his cigarette, and put on that practiced, gentle smile.
“My dear Leslie, what luck to run into you–meeting you makes my day,” he said.
“My dear.” The words sent a chill through me.
In just a few days he’d taken to renaming me again?
This dog of a man, acting–disgusting, Asphodel sneered.
I rolled my eyes and replied coolly, “Then consider yourself unlucky.”

Kirby’s expression tightened a little, but he didn’t give up. He shamelessly stepped forward to pull out a chair for me.
Malach must’ve taught him some rotten tricks–he was getting more shameless by the minute.
The man opposite him jumped to his feet in a panic at the sight and bolted. “Kirby, I won’t take up your time–goodbye!” he exclaimed and left in a hurry.
Kirby nodded faintly; the man disappeared without a trace.
I sat down opposite him. Kirby was about to take the seat beside me when Eren’s two short legs propelled him like a spring–he bounded over and claimed the spot first, grinning and wobbling his knees as he drawled, “No seats left…”
I almost laughed out loud.
This little brat–just like his father–he’s perfect for dealing with Kirby, Asphodel chuckled with delight.
Kirby’s POV
Sometimes this Gold Pack brat is even more annoying than his father!
I narrowed my eyes, teeth clenched, and strode over to scoop the little cub up and move him into the inner seat.
Who did this little wolf think he was, stealing my place? Not on my watch.
My grip was firm and unquestionable; his struggles felt like tickles to me.

Leslie’s gaze flicked over with a warning. “Kirby, don’t bully children—”
I glanced at Eren, his eyes rimmed red from holding back tears, and snorted, “Child? No–he’s the Gold Pack’s heir. I’m the Crimson Moon’s heir. We’re equals by right. Nobody’s bullying anybody here.”
This little pest was clearly Adler’s spy–planted at Leslie’s side to provoke me,
Eren glared at me indignantly and muttered, “Muse, when I see someone I don’t like I can’t eat!”
The kid was blunt–unlike his sly father.
Leslie raised her eyes and said coldly, “Go on now, leave.”
