Rain fell in the middle of the night, tapping against the windows in a steady patter, noisy and restless.

When I left for work in the morning, I didn’t see Carl’s car. I wasn’t sure if he had come home last night.

Asphodel muttered in my head: “That brother of yours probably went off fooling around again.”

At Rogue Pack’s western headquarters, Liam was in an unusually gossipy mood. “Leslie, I heard last night’s banquet was unforgettable. They’re saying Leiss’s bonding ceremony will go down in history?”

His face was full of curiosity. With so many guests, it was no surprise the news had spread so quickly.

I laughed, my tone carrying a trace of mockery. “Yeah, unforgettable.”

Just then, before I even reached my office, I caught sight of a woman at the front desk speaking with the secretary.

I narrowed my eyes. Wasn’t that Kelly, last night’s leading lady?

She hadn’t made an appointment, and since the secretary didn’t know her, she hadn’t been let in.

“Kelly?” I called out.

She turned. Her gaze was cool yet striking, her presence sharper and more resolute than the night before, as though she had been reborn.

Dressed in a crisp professional suit befitting her career as a lawyer, she radiated composure.

I couldn’t help but admire her. Asphodel hummed: “This Omega is something else.”

She gave me a faint smile. “Leslie, sorry to intrude. Do you have a moment?”

I lowered my eyes, thinking. We hadn’t crossed paths much, but her experience mirrored mine enough to stir sympathy.

“Come in.” I gestured.

Liam opened the office door, and Kelly and I went inside one after the other.

“What would you like to drink?” I asked.

“Coffee, thank you.”

“Kelly, what brings you here today?” I got straight to the point.

She smiled, hesitated a moment, then said, “There’s something I’d like to ask your help with.”

She paused before continuing. “You know about last night — it’s already the talk of the town. My law firm just opened, but with Leiss and Crimson Moon Pack’s influence, no one dares to come near. In less than a month, I might have to close.”

She let out a self–deprecating laugh. “I know you went through an unpleasant bond yourself, so we’re kindred spirits. Unfortunately, I don’t have your foundation. My family was ruined by Leiss, we had nothing left to fight back with. Last night’s fiasco was my final act of defiance.”

A tremor passed through me. Memories of my own past with Kirby surfaced, and the scent of pine resin slipped free, carrying my resonance.

I smiled. “Leiss can’t even lift his head in Crimson Moon Pack right now. Don’t underestimate yourself, Kelly.”

She shook her head, her voice steady. “I’m here to ask shamelessly for your help. If you’d be willing to invest in my law firm, no one would care about Leiss’s influence anymore.”

I was quiet for a moment, but quickly understood her intent.

Last night she had humiliated Leiss, but scandals weren’t rare. Every pack had its share, and before long, there’d be something new to gossip about. His shame would fade, and Kelly, too, would be forgotten.

If she wanted real value, she needed her own career.

“Alright, no problem.” I agreed without hesitation.

Kelly froze. “Just… like that?”

I smiled. “It took courage for you to come here. You’ve done what I always wanted to do but never dared because I still had to weigh the interests of two families. You did it openly, so of course I’ll support you a hundred percent.”

Relief softened her expression, her tension easing as she thanked me with a smile.

I leaned back in my chair, twirling a pen idly. “Since you’ve opened in high profile, you can’t close quietly. Better to push the firm into the public eye – not just targeting wealthy wives and

Kelly looked at me in surprise, as though she hadn’t expected advice.

I continued, “Advertising costs money, but the cheapest way is to make yourself the spokesperson. If the public likes you, the effect will be even better.”

My thoughts turned quickly. “What if I create a reality show – the theme being abandoned single women rebuilding their careers? It would definitely resonate. What do you think?”

Kelly’s eyes lit up, though she hesitated. “But wouldn’t that require a big investment?”

I waved a hand. “Don’t worry. I’ll put a professional team on it. You just participate.”

She nodded firmly, and we struck a deal.

After she left, she soon sent over a share proposal giving me fifty percent.

I narrowed my eyes, crossed it out, and changed it to ten before sending it back.

Asphodel scoffed: Look at you, princess. So generous now? Not thinking about profit anymore?

I answered calmly, “My energy isn’t in that area, and I don’t want to take advantage of her. She should run the firm herself.”
