Leslie’s POV

Kirby didn’t lash out again. Instead, he turned his gaze to the video, his voice cool, probing. “What made you want to play piano all of a sudden?”
I arched a brow, feigning nonchalance. Was he really still hung up on that?
“Just pressed a few keys for fun. Adler happened to join in. But Crimson Moon Pack’s prize was generous–an entire bill waived?”
A sly smile tugged at my lips.
Asphodel snorted. You’re pouring oil on the fire.
Thorbane glanced at Kirby. “Waived?”
I curved my lips higher. “An opportunity like that? Of course I wouldn’t waste it. Right, Kirby?”
The teasing in my heart grew sharper. That five–million tab from the raffle–his Pack’s own event–too late for him to regret it now.
Kirby’s brows drew tight. His voice sharpened. “So you pretended to be a couple for a discount?”
He went straight for the sore spot.
I bit my lip, then let out a light laugh. “I spent over fifty million, remember?”
Thorbane blinked, knowing my quirks well. I rarely shopped, but when I did, I nearly emptied entire malls.
His voice stayed calm as he looked at Kirby. “I’ll see that the money is reimbursed.”
I was about to argue, but Kirby cut me off, his expression hardening. “No need. An event is an event, no conditions attached.”
Then his tone dropped lower, a faint laugh escaping. “Besides… letting her walk away without paying feels right.”

Even in front of my brother, he couldn’t resist teasing me.
Thorbane’s frown deepened, though he said nothing more. The air in the office grew taut

The moment those words left Kirby’s mouth, the room froze. The tension was so sharp it pressed against my lungs, making it hard to breathe.
I’d never cared much for him, but he had saved Leslie more than once. That alone made me tolerate him. Still, the way he tossed out lines like that–it was like wrapping the whole room in a sheet of ice.
Leslie’s pheromones tightened, her faint smile edged with impatience.
No doubt Asphodel was grumbling in her head. I knew my sister too well–she had to be irritated by the awkwardness.
Just then, Liam came in with coffee, blissfully unaware of the tension. He set the cups down carefully and slipped out, breaking the silence if only for a moment.
Leslie had no interest in sparring further. She lifted her cup, sipped, then stood. “I’ve Excuse me.”
got work.
That left me and Kirby facing each other across the office. I cleared my throat, trying to ease the weight in the air. “Kirby, you seem to have a bit of an issue with Adler?”
He picked up his cup unhurriedly, his movements almost refined, like savoring something precious. Only after a slow sip did he speak. “Leslie attracts flies with ulterior motives. Someone has to watch her back.”
His tone was low, but the mint lacing the air carried a cutting edge. That wasn’t casual concern -it was possessive instinct.
Wolfish instinct.
Adler was no weakling. And Gold Pack wasn’t a toy. Yet Kirby’s intent was clear: he wouldn’t back down.
I couldn’t help but chuckle at his bluntness.
“Well, our Leslie’s beautiful, rich, and sharp. Of course everyone wants to chase her.”
It made me proud to say it. Away from Kirby, my sister’s brilliance finally shone. In just a few months, she’d become the jewel of every werewolf’s eye.
