“Who the hell did this?!” Father’s roar shook the living room walls. “Adler hasn’t shown the slightest response. Where the hell is he hiding?”
I glanced at Leslie, calm as ever on the sofa, flipping through documents as if the world outside didn’t exist. I pressed my lips together.
“No word. Dad, this isn’t something we should chase him about. I’ve already done everything I can. But pulling two hot searches in one day makes too much noise – other packs will start to notice.”
–
“That filthy circle of yours! And your sister, so innocent how can you sit there acting indifferent?” Father’s cold snort hit like a whip. My careless look had set him off again.
Great. Somehow this was all my fault now.
Leslie gave a soft, weary smile and finally looked up.
“Enough, Dad. It’s all baseless gossip. We’ve done nothing wrong, so why act guilty?”
Her pheromone spread, cool and luminous like moonlight, softening the edges of both my temper and Father’s fury.
But his face still twisted with anger. He jabbed a finger at the tablet, at the vile comments flashing across the screen.
“This is getting out of hand! Some of them are calling you a homewrecker now, words foul enough to choke on!”
I leaned in for a look. Sure enough, once the fire of public opinion caught, it couldn’t be stopped.
“Leslie turned Kirby down for this Adler with a kid? Open your eyes scumbag!”

he’s just another
“Leslie’s taste in men has always been rotten. Not an ounce of improvement!”
“With that child in the mix, why lower herself? Unless she knew him before they split…”
“Don’t tell me she was the mistress all along?”
These netizens. They always twisted things toward the darkest, most malicious corners, as if cruelty itself could uncover hidden truths.

Rage stirred in my chest as I read their poison.
But Leslie was calmer than either of us. After a moment’s thought, she lifted the comm and called Thorbane, still working late.
“Keep an eye on Rogue Pack’s stock. Don’t let this noise cause fluctuations.”
That was the heart of it.
Reputation was smoke. The pack’s wealth was stone.
Father stared at his daughter in disbelief. Even now, she was thinking of profits.
I couldn’t hear what Thorbane said, only saw Leslie’s brows ease slightly before she hung up.
“Good. The stock only wavered a little. No major losses. By tomorrow, once the noise dies down, it’ll be fine.”
“Die down?” I muttered, my tone heavy. “It won’t be that easy. I pressed with everything I had. Even teamed up with Michael, and the platforms still refused to pull it…”
