Adler’s POV
My near–humble stance caught both Carl and Lars off guard.

They exchanged a glance and shut their mouths, clearly realizing that my final explanation had been my true reason for coming.
Leslie’s lips curved faintly, a cool smile in her eyes. “Alpha, there’s no need to explain so much. Of course we believe you’re innocent. The truth speaks for itself.”
Her clear, beautiful eyes eased some of the weight in my chest, yet at the same time sank it deeper.
Did she truly believe me – or did she simply not care?
But right now, I didn’t seem to have the right to ask.
I schooled my face back into calm politeness, though a trace of chill edged my tone. “You’re right. Still, I won’t let the slanderer go so easily. To condemn someone with a few words is laughable…”
I turned toward Lars. “Your Majesty, it’s late. Forgive my disturbance tonight. I’ll return another day to make my apologies properly.”
Lars inclined his head, his temper now fully turned toward Kirby.
“Very well. If you need help, speak. Don’t stand on ceremony.”
He flicked a look at Carl, and Carl immediately rose, hand extended. “Alpha, this way please…”
I gave Leslie one last deep look, then nodded and left.
She had to see that, in this storm Kirby had stirred, I stood on her side.
Leslie’s POV
When Carl came back from seeing Adler out, he entered the living room just as Father finally lost control, his rage booming like thunder.
“That bastard Kirby – what does he think he’s doing? Is he tired of living?”
The Rogue Pack king’s alpha pheromone stormed through the room like a physical force.
The air smelled of wet earth before a downpour, thick and hard to breathe.

“All tender eyes on the surface, knives in the dark behind our backs! He’s shameless beyond compare!”
The butler hovered, wanting to calm him but unable to approach.
1, on the other hand, remained unfazed. My cool, moonlight–like pheromone easily shielded me from Father’s fury.
“It’s late. I’m going to rest. Don’t be angry, Dad. We have plenty of chances to strike back.”
My smile was cold.
It wasn’t that I wasn’t angry – only that anger changed nothing.
Kirby of Crimson Moon Pack – this debt, I would remember.
Father waved a hand, his aura drawing back slightly. “Be careful. I’ll have Carl stay next door. If anything happens, call him.”
Carl’s mouth twitched. “Yeah, call me…”
No doubt he was hoping I’d let him sleep in for once instead of dragging him out of bed at dawn.
I smiled. “Good night, Dad.”
Carl walked me to my door before stopping.
He couldn’t help himself, finally asking, “What’s your plan for Kirby? Don’t act on emotion…”
I knew that, to this brother of mine, my greatest strength deeply.

I looked at him, my tone flat and glacial, each word pressed out like ice from the soul’s depths. “Wait. Then crush him.”
