Chapter 440 Flames of Accusation
Leslie POV
Carl made a point of giving me some privacy; he let out a long breath.

“Call me if you need anything I’m next door…sleep in a little tomorrow, I’ll make you something good!”
With that he walked off, hands in his pockets and a spring in his step.

I stared at the name on my phone as it kept blinking, and my eyes darkened in an instant.
–
Kirby I should have seen this coming.
Even a trending topic that our Rogue PackPack couldn’t take down had to be pulled by a force equal to or stronger than ours.
Who else on the Northern Continent could it be besides the Crimson Moon Pack?
I was slow to react.
Kirby’s syrupy, fake flattery and that fragile act about being hurt – it had lulled my guard.
The phone kept stubbornly ringing in the quiet room… I looked at the name, but I had no intention of answering.
Kirby POV
“You did this?!”
When I burst into the study upstairs at Bloodrock Estate, an alpha scent mixed with anger and a sharp minty coolness rolled off me.
I stood there with a thunderous face, staring at the figure sitting in the lamplight alpha Marcus.
—
my father,
My intrusion made the air in front of him tense, but he only slowly lifted his head. His wrinkled face was a sullen shadow; the weighty, mountain–like authority of an old–school Alpha pressed back at me without ceremony, full of displeasure at being questioned.
“Is that how you speak to your elders?” he barked.
My voice was husky, biting cold; there was no sign I intended to back down.
Our pheromones clashed sharply in the cramped study, sparking invisible heat.

“Did you do it?” Lrepeated. “I checked the media platforms tonight’s wave of public opinion was still released in my name, but I never gave such an order. Old Alpha, aren’t you going to explain anything to me?”
Marcus sneered twice; that murky gaze of his flashed the predator light I knew too well.
“Explain? You run the Crimson Moon Pack now. If someone around you makes a mistake, shouldn’t you be asking why your loyal BetaMalach was so careless?” he said.
My eyes went cold; I stared at him with a razor edge.
I could feel my wolfLance rising in my gut, roaring with anger.
I slammed my foot down and kicked the antique vase he treasured to the side – hard.
Crash-
The vase shattered instantly, a million–credit piece turned to dust beneath my foot.
“Malach has been with me for years, but he wouldn’t dare!” I practically shouted.
Rage swallowed reason in that instant.
I saw Marcus‘ pupils contract; the veins on his old hands clenching the armrests bulged.
He knew I had truly snapped.
“You already found out, didn’t you? Why are you still asking?” he finally stopped circling, his tone full of mockery.
The study’s dim light offered no warmth.
The floor was a mess; the atmosphere between father and son was taut as a drawn blade.
I could feel my heart thudding hard in my chest; murder hung at the surface of my blood.
I regretted it back then I’d been soft, I hadn’t stripped him of all his power!
