Chapter 187
White wolf.
She saw the white wolf again, but this time she managed to approach the beautiful creature. Rania stretched out her hand and caressed its soft fur.
She smiled softly, as she tickles the side of the creature. She laughed when the wolf docilely rested its head on her lap.
Whenever she saw this wolf, se felt a surge of longing that she couldn’t explain, as if they were a good friend, who had not yet met for a long time.
What are you?
Rania kept asking the question in her head, but when she blinked her eyes, the white wolf had vanished, and she found herself lying on the bed.
She blinked her eyes a couple of times, so she could grasp her surroundings. From the distance he could hear Eiten’s delightful voice. He was laughing.
And then Rania heard the voice that made her heart thumped wildly. Maximus didn’t sound happy.
“Why with the long face? You shouldn’t feel so defeated, after all your mate has knelt down in front of so many people to beg for your mercy. Oh, come on, don’t be too harsh. You don’t need to be too hard on yourself. It’s a good thing that the moniker of the Mad King slowly fades away. Rania is a great help.”
“Shut up, or I will kick you out, she is still sleeping,” Maximus growled, but Eiten was still laughing, therefore after a few bickering sound, Rania couldn’t hear the royal gamma’s voice anymore.
Needless to say, Eiten had unceremoniously kicked out of the tent by the king.
And now, Maximus was walking towards the makeshift bed to approach Rania. She didn’t know why, but she pretended to be asleep.
She remembered what happened before she lost her consciousness. She was asking for Lucian and Ares to be pardoned. Were they fine?
But, if Eiten was in a good mood, which meant, the two warriors were still alive, right? Maximus didn’t kill them, right?
Rania couldn’t tell for sure, but she held onto that hope.
The weight of the bed dipped down when Maximus sat down. His callous hand caressed her cheek, and tucked a strand of her hair.
“I know you are awake. Until when do you want to still pretend that you are sleeping?”
Rania’s heart skipped a beat when she heard that, she didn’t expect the king to know it, but because her pretense had been busted, she had no other choice, but to open her eyes.

Chapter 187
“You drove me crazy” Maximus’s voice was heavy with concern, but his touch was very gentle. “And people call me the Mad King. I think you are success to make me even madder.“.
Rania furrowed her brows. What he meant by that?
Lucian and Ares?‘
Maximus growled in frustration when she asked about the two warriors. “You woke up and then the first thing that you do is to mention other men’s names? You are indeed something else, Rania.”
Rania looked panic, she didn’t mean it that way.
“Good, you have a sense of decency to know that makes me angry.” Maximus pushed Rania’s shoulder gently, so she could lay down on the bed again. He sighed deeply. “I am going to call for Dorry to check on you.”
Maximus then stood up, but Rania grabbed his hand. He had not yet answered her question, and she needed to know for sure that Lucian and Ares were still alive and they were unharmed.
The king looked at his mate agitatedly, but he answered her anyway.
“They are still breathing.”
Rania frowned. What kind of answer was that?
“What?” Maximus became even more irritated.
They could be still breathing even if they were beaten up so bad. So, Maximus’s answer was very vague.
“I didn’t touch them. Or I ask someone to beat them up to the verge of their death. They are still breathing and now they are working to clear the landslide.”
Maximus knew this was the detail that Rania wanted, but it didn’t stop him from being annoyed with this
woman.
Only when Rania heard that, she smiled and let go of Maximus’s hand.
Later on, from Eiten, Rania learned that the people saw the king differently. They saw the ‘humble‘ side of him, someone who couldn’t go against his mate’s wish.
‘So, as long as you have the queen, the king will not be as cruel!‘
That was what Eiten said, as he talked about what the other people had been talking about.
However, Maximus didn’t seem to like it in one bit. He had been very moody, but of course, he couldn’t do anything in front of his sick mate.
He couldn’t even embed his claws on Lucian and Ares’s skin for how they had put the queen in danger.
Yet, a kiss from Rania managed to make lessen his aggression.
