Jasmine was sure that she heard him wrong. She looked at him with a confusion. “What? What did you say?”

She was happy because Killian accepted her, that he was not angry with her, but what he said next caught her out of guard.

“What do you mean?”

“You can’t get rid of the baby,” Killian repeated what he said without any hesitation. “I want you to keep the baby.”

Jasmine couldn’t believe with what she heard, she looked at Killian, as if he had gone insane. “This baby is not yours, you know that. Why do you want to keep it?”

Jasmine felt her heart was shredded into pieces when she had to admit that. She was ashamed of it, but Killian was out of his mind, if he insisted to keep the baby. He was crazy.

“No, I don’t want to keep the baby. I don’t want it!” Jasmine started to hit her stomach again, but Killian stopped her. “No! I don’t want part of him to be in my body! I don’t want this child!”

“Stop it, Jasmine! Jasmine!” Killian grabbed both of her hands and shook her body, so she would listen to him. “Jasmine!”

Jasmine finally stopped fighting him, she stared at him with tears streamed down her face. “Why, Killian? Why do you want me to be pregnant with someone else’s baby? Am I not your mate? Shouldn’t you be angry too?”

“I am angry, Jasmine. I feel like I want to kill that old hag, but what is the point?”

“What do you mean with what is the point?” Jasmine asked with a frown. “He degraded you by getting me pregnant. How can you stand it? For your mate to get pregnant by another man?” Jasmine couldn’t stop crying at this point.

“You need to see the bigger picture of this, Jasmine,” Killian said, he tried his best to reassure her, but Jasmine’s face was devoid from any emotion right now, she detached herself from reality and Killian had to get her back. “Jasmine, Jasmine!”

Killian shook her body, he leaned over and kissed her lips.

They arrived at the palace around midnight, where everyone had fallen asleep, and only a few guards, who greeted them.

Maximus didn’t announce his arrival either, so the higher up thought the king still at the border.

Rania was also sleeping when they arrived, she used Maximus’s thigh as her pillow, and slept peacefully during the whole trip.

Finally, the exhaustion took a toll on her, she didn’t even wake up when Maximus carried her to their bedroom.

However, the next morning when Rania woke up, Maximus was there, next to her, staring at her while she was sleeping.

The king caressed her cheek. “Do you have a good sleep?”

Rania nodded. She glanced at the window, it was already bright outside. She had a habit to wake up very early, for being an omega in her old pack, but it seemed, the habit had vanished.

“But, I didn’t.” Maximus lowered his head, and looked at her closely. “I don’t even have a blink of sleep,” he said in a begrudging voice.
