‘What happened? Please, tell me.” Rania kissed the tip of his nose too, and Maximus sighed in relief with the physical touch between them. It helped him to regulate his anger, and put his focus on his mate rather than his rage.

“Someone at the border had allowed Barlukan warriors to cross the border, that’s why they are here. We don’t know how many of them, but sure enough, they will cause trouble here. Elder Gayle has learned who had done this, but there must be more people that involved in this.”

Maximus leaned against Rania’s palm, as she caressed his cheek with her thumb.

“I want to kill them all, wipe them clean.”

‘You will kill innocent people.‘

“So be it.”

Rania frowned, her displeasure was full on display, which made Maximus groan. He knew she wouldn’t like it.

“It’s worth it.”

Rania shook her head. How he could say it was worth it to kill so many innocent people. ‘No, don’t do that.’

Maximus was upset now, he stood up, which forced Rania to stand up as well, and shot his mate a disapproving look.

“Why should I care? I am going to feed them to the wild wolves. It has been a while since they have a feast.”

Seeing Maximus was about to leave, Rania immediately hugged him again. She lifted her head and gave him a pleading look.

Now Rania understood why Elder Gayle asked for her help to calm Maximus down, because they must have tried to persuade him otherwise, but Maximus was simply too hot headed to listen to them.

“I don’t understand what you are saying,” Maximus was grumbling. Of course, he understood her just fine, after all, he had his eyes on her, so, there was no way he didn’t see it.
